I have tried to just hook up the subs to the cd player but it didnt give me the sound that i wanted, it was jsut really quiet.
if your talking boyut car equipement in your house bad idea the ohms are different home audio is 8 ohm car audio is four ohm, not enough power to get loud music, the lower the ohm load the higher the power, its not interchangable not safely anyway, youll burn your cd player up trying to produce the needed power
I buy and sell amps from time to time and I always like to test them or see them work when I buy them and after I buy them. A lot of times I sell ...
Specifically what wattage and configuration would be ideal for non-stop (won't keep shuttin off the amp due to overheating or something - a problem I had with a pre-amped bazooka tube), powerful bass (not window shattering, but still very solid sonic quality)?
Edit: ok, should that be 600W peak or rms? And what are the best quality amps?
Use a reputable amp capable of providing at least 600 watts. If you hear distortion from the speaker, turn it down a bit. Make sure the amp is installed in the correct direction (horizontal vs vertical) for the make/model you decide to go with. Also ensure it receives proper ventilation to keep it from going into thermal protection.

Why is my 500 watt bazooka amp overheating? It is hooked up to a one Sony 12 Explode 1200 Watt. Help please!?
Are you talking about a Bazooka amp like out of a Bazooka tube?
Like the one that's made to run a single 4 ohm voice coil in a tube?
And I'm betting your 12" Sony Explod is a dual 4 ohm voice coil?
So you're probably running the amp at 2 ohms?
If all this is correct then that's your problem. Get a 2 ohm mono block amp or dual 2 ohm sub wired for 4 ohms.
the headunit connects to both of your amps, via RCA cords. the rca cords send the music signal from the headunit to the amps.
you connect your 4 car speakers to the hart 4 channel amp. each speaker gets its own channel.
you connect the bazooka to the bazoka amp, via speaker wires.
then ofcourse you have to run power and ground wires for both amps, and also remote wires for both amps.
so you will have RCA cords and a remote wire going from the headunit to both amps. And the amps will power all of the speakers.
