Can anyone help with car amp kits?

I've found three different power cables, tinned, nickle plated and oxygen free. Is there that much of a difference?
its a rockford fosgate 4awg amp kit and a voodoo 4awg kit. Im hooking up a bd1000 w/ 2 12 eclipse titaniums. the voodoo is the nickel plated.

Yes there is a difference. What Gauge are they? Who is the maker(s) of the power cables? What type and how durable is the insulation around the cables?
It really comes down to how much power you are trying to push through it. 12 volts is 12 volts any which way you slice it, but pulling 5 amps or pulling 80 amps has a huge difference.
A 18 gauge wire cannot hold much current before burning up and possibly catching something on fire. Generally speaking, going with too large of gauge of wire will not harm much, going to small could be an exercise in your fire extinguisher skills. I know someone who used too small of a gauge of wire for a bunch of stuff wired in his trunk, it melted the sound damping material to his carpeting before part of the wire grounded out and blew the fuse. He got lucky it didn't burn up more than that.

What kind if fuse should I use for my car amp?

The fuse that the car amp install kit blew out after like 2 years, I am using a SPL 1250 amp powering two Jensen 10" subs. I replaced the fuse with a 20 amp and blew out after a week, actually overheated so bad it melted the holder around the fuse. I changed the whole thing yesterday but used a 60 amp fuse. How do I find out what kind of fuse I need?

If you are talking about the fuse on the main power wire coming from the battery to the amp.

Then you need to add up the total size of all the fuses in all of your amps, then use a slightly larger fuse in the fuse holder.

For example,if your fuses in your amp total 120 then you can use a 150 amp fuse.

Car audio amp kits please answer i dont wanna blow anything up!!!?

i have a 4000 watt peak power amp with a 0GA. amp kit with no cap the kit was made for this kind of power i also have 2 batterys 1 in front and 1 in back i also have a seperator for them with a 130 Amp Alternator i wanted to know if i needed a cap i dont think i do but if i do what kind should i get 1.2, 2, 3, 4, hybrid and so on but i need it cheap and where can i find it??

You don't absolutely have to have a capacitor since you've already upgraded your alternator and you have 2 batteries... it should be sufficient power without killin either the battery or the alternator.. they'll be fine. However, if you feel you just absolutely must have one, go to Walmart and get the Scorche brand .5-1.0 fared... they're fairly cheap and they do the job..

What could I use as a substitute for the power cable running to my car amp?

I am installing a sound system in my car straight from scratch. I have built the subwoofer enclosure but now I have run into a problem. The existing amplifier power cable is too short to reach my amp. I was wondering if any other cable could be used as a substitute to extend it just a few more inches or do I need to buy a whole new amp kit? Thanks

saftey wise buy a new wire if you go best buy curcuit city you can buy the red power cable by the foot
