Is there a website that has a lot of different diagrams for hooking up car stereo amps?
VS Commodore Berlina

Looking into a Cheap 2 channel amp and am looking into maybe a mix mono setup or running stereo with the subs and mids with caps and passive cross over. It will be a total of 4 mids and 2 subs all 4ohm.
Okay maybe its not a passive cross over I'm talking about. maybe its a active cross over. its between the amp and the sub. and then the mids have caps on them.

Passive crossovers will only be useful if you have two different amps. One just for the subs and one for the mids. This is known as biamping and is used quite often.

How important is amps on a car stereo?

I just screwed up my stereo cause my tape deck got stuck but anyway I'm looking for a new stereo. I wanna cheap one but good. how important are the amps in a car stereo? and if the stereo has low amps should i also get a amplifier?

When you're shopping for a stereo deck, you probably won't find much difference in terms of power output. Just about all modern decks will produce around 15-20 watts RMS per channel. A few watts of difference in power ratings won't usually make an easily audible difference in the sound. Pick a new stereo that's easy to use and has the features you want, and don't worry too much about the power ratings.

If sound quality is important to you, then you'll probably want to use an external amplifier. If you're still using stock speakers, then there's not much point to an amp.

To clear up some misinformation: you don't have to closely match speaker and amplifier power ratings. A speaker rated for 75 watts won't have any problem at all with a deck that produces 20 watts. A mis-match won't necessarily produce any extra distortion, and it's not true that distortion is a major cause of speaker damage. Speakers are damaged by too much power, not distortion.

What could be wrong with this car stereo amp?

I installed my brother's car stereo for him a couple of weeks ago. Up until this point, it's worked perfectly fine. All of a sudden it started blowing the 30 amp fuse that is in the amp, not the inline power wire fuse, but the fuse box style fuse that plugs directly into the amp. I have changed it four times now and each time that I change it it blows again within seconds. Is it more likely to be a wiring problem or something within the amp? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

It is either something inside the amp that is pulling too much current. It can also be your alternator is not putting out enough current. If the battery has low volts and the alternator is weak, then the low voltage will make the amp pull more current than normal to get the same watts. have the alternator and battery load tested. a stereo shop can do this.

Car Stereo Amps, what is the best amp?

What is a good amp that runs at a TRUE wattage/amperage, nothing like a 2000 watt amp, cause you know thats not true, its what it peaks at. What would be a good amp that is a TRUE amp that runs over 500 or more for cheap, and where do I find it.

I was looking for an amp and I found a 2000 watt amp for 80 some bucks, and you know thats not right, what im looking for is an amp that runs at a TRUE wattage/amperage level. Something than can pack a punch but something that I wont have to buy a new alltinator for, for my car engine.
Basically im looking for something with alot of RMS power, who makes it, whats the name, and where do i find it, and how much does it cost??

i think what your asking for are examples and places to look into. i would look at www.wooferect.com they have lots and lots of brands, most anything someone on here would mention.
as for high RMS per dollar, i have heard good things about Phoenix gold and profile. And for a reasonable price on a CEA-2006 certified amp ( see sparkies comments ) look at sony and alpine (my personal favorite) something else that is somewhat of a indicator is to look at a amps fuse ratings. typically (but not always) a higher rating will be louder regardless of the printed rating. but this only works on like class amps. comparing fuses on a class d amp to a class a/b is a unfair comparison.
good luck and happy shopping.

  • How to install car amp, Car stereo amplifier, amp install part 2 ...

You gotta remove the old wire. if your talking about running the speaker wire from the amp to the subwoofer thier should be no need for soldering the amp only requires clamp connectors on the end of the wire and speakers are normally set for you to push up the speaker clip, insert the speaker wire and let go of the clip or for some speakers… screw off the cap insert the wire and tighten it… thier should be no need for soldering

That is what you call a capacitor it saves your alternator in terms of pulling too much current… really not necessary for small amps with low watts rating but for higher class amps that push more watts… it’s required to have a capacitor to save your charging system… a capacitor basically cuts the current draw from your battery to a minimum
