car subwoofer amplifiers

I went out to my car this morning after work, and found that I had left the keys in with the power on (battery dead). No biggie, I just got a boost. After the boost I tried listening to music... and noticed that my subs weren't playing.

I think the problem is from the amp since the lights aren't on. Any ideas on solution to this problem?
Haven't ever changed alternator or battery

check you in line fuse or circut breaker from the battery to the amp
jump starting your car may have blown it or tripped the breaker

Home made car amplifier with FAN speed regulation and temperature sensor...

The amplifier is an older type amp the brand is AWA and ive got the car subwoofer cords but i wanna make it so that my sub runs through the amplifier and my amplifier is powered by my Hi-Fi system. I know it can be done because my mate has done it with his with an old amp but he can't remember how he did it.

You need to wire up each sub-woofer as an 8ohm load, in stereo to your amp. Use a Y adapter to wire your sub woofer output on your system, because bass isn't played in stereo. Most single coil sub-woofers are sold as 8 ohms, meant to be bridged.

Keep the woofers far away from your TV, because the strong magnets mess up the picture.

Like can you use a 100 watt amplifier for a 400 watt subwoofer?

yes but NEVER put any amp in that is higher wattage than the woofer or poof.

also, keep your bass at a lower level regarding your cd player,
or poof.

1. What's the difference between a bridged amp and none-bridged?
2. What's the difference between a 2-ohm and 4-ohm setting?
3. Can I hook two subwoofers up to a mono amp?

With Subwoofers-
1. RMS means what?
2. What is an ohm?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

1. An amplifier that isn't bridged simply uses the wattage that is displayed on the specs. for the amp. When the amplifier is bridged, a channel is sacrifieced on the amp, losing a channel but pushing that channel's power to the primary channel that you will be using. (Taking the second channel's power and transfering it to the first.)

2. A 2 ohm setting is nothing more than a stronger load for an amplifier to push, therefore making the subwoofer exert a more powerful sound. A 4 ohm setting just isn't as powerful.

3. Yes, two subwoofers can be hooked up to a monoblock amplifier. You must wire the subwoofers in SERIES, or wiring them together so that the amplifier thinks it is one big subwoofer. (It is completely safe, and it often used by car audio enthusists because it exerts a more powerful sound, by locking the RMS wattage to only one channel.)

Subwoofers:

1. The RMS wattage is the wattage that the subwoofer can safely remain at without stressing or abusing the speaker. The RMS for your subs should about match up with your amp in order to make for a solid, safe sound.

2. An ohm is a power exertion that can be exponentially powerful. (Most home theatre speakers are 16 ohm, others are 8 ohm, some car audio subs are 4 ohm, and others are 2 ohm.) The lower the ohms, the more powerful the speaker. Google "Ohm's Law."
