My friend was telling me about how a competition amp can give you a different sound then a non competition amp. In other words, i bought a regular power acoustik 1200wRMS 2000w peak 1 ohm amplifier to power my 12" mofo. he was saying if I bought say a MA audio competition amp, it would provide a different sound aka lower more audible base, instead of the kicky/punchy base that my current amp puts out. Does this make sense, or is an amp an amp, power wise, and it really dont matter?
This is also marketing IMO--- companies will write "competition" on the box or specs, making it sound special, hoping newbs will think its something special (like your friend).

I am wondering if a 80A AGU main fuse will be okay for a Sony 900w Amp(90A). I will basically only use it for daily listening and no competitions. Also the amp has 3x30A fuse so i would use 90A as the total right?
An 80 amp fuse should be fine, as long as you're using at least a 4-gauge power wire.
Most amplifiers don't come close to their fuse rating when it comes to current draw, especially if they're just playing music. You won't have a problem with an 80-amp fuse.

a good combonation is when the RMS of the Subwoofer is equal to or less than the RMS rating of the amp
I have a Pioneer Premier SPL 12" dual 2ohm subwoofer (3000/1000rms watts). I'm having a little trouble deciding what amp I wanna get. Here are the two I'm looking at. Thanks for the help!!

The MTX will not work at 2ohms unless I have 2 subwoofers. I actually have one and it sounds horrible with this subwoofer. The low frequency is WAY too loud and there is absolutely NO response from high frequency.
The dealer I bought the sub from recommended the Cadence. They say it is a "competition" amp and will match my subwoofer perfectly.
From the numbers I see I don't understand how it would be any different.
I would diffilently say the Mtx thunder I own one my self and it great, For the other one do you really ever think that you are going to go down to 1 ohm?? That could be bad depending on how it is wired...so I would try to avoid amps that say that usually their not that great of quality...
