Car Audio Amplifiers Answers

I have recently purchased a Kicker S10 L7 1200 watt sub, and a Directed D1200 amplifier. What wiring kit?

What wiring kit should i buy?

I currently have an SPLX 5OO watt sub and an SPLX 450 watt amplifier. I have used a 600 watt wiring kit with this. While this wiring kit work with the new sub and amp or do i need to buy a new one?

if i need to buy a new one, what should i be buying?

Cheers, Neil

speaker wire is speaker wire......as long as the ohm rating required is the same you should have very little problem......it is the amp, stereo and speakers that make up your system....the wiring is just a way to connect it!!!!!

What size cable wire should I use for an amp that is 400 watts RMS, 700 peak, and a 1.5 farad capacitor?

Ok, here is my setup:

Directed 750d amplifier
Directed Studio 3128 12" subwoofer
Power Acoustic 1.5 farad capacitor

The amp's manual says that the minimum is 8 gauge, but I still don't know if I need more because of the capacitor. Does that make a difference?

here's a chart to help you with that http://www.crutchfield.com/learn/learnin gcenter/car/cable_gauge_chart.html
i would run 4gauge so in the future if/when you wanted to upgrade you wont have to buy the thicker wire and un-install the old wire just to run the thicker wire, its more time and cost effective in the long run

About MosFet Audio Amplifier and Transistor?

1. In direct coupled amplifiers (Transistor Coupled), how can I reduce the RF interference (produce "Blast" sound during the operation of AC switches or AC appliances such as Tube light)? It is the head aching problem in such kind of amplifiers.

2. Is the above problem may persist in MOSFET type amplifiers?

3. Today why the Darling series are highly preferred than common PN junction transistor? Can you give the advantages and drawbacks of Darlington Transistors?

1)>AC filters on the main power cord and rectifier bridge. Also a good RF shield for amp and low signal wires.
2)>The transistor type is not the problem!!!!
3)>I don't know!!!!

Could any one tell me how to convert an Amplifiers Rms power into Wattage?

A direct like would to a website would be awesome.

Never pay attention to MAX or PEAK watts. This is a useless means of measurements as an amp rarely ever reaches MAX.

RMS watts is the rating given to a speaker/amp as the average wattage the system pushes/handles.

RMS is the measurement of watts that's closest to a true measurement of power.

Also be sure the amp in question is CEA-2006 compliant.

Recommend an Amplifier Wattage for this Sub Combo?

I have two Kenwood KFC-W3009 12" Subwoofers in a ported box.
4-ohms,
power range: 35-400 watts RMS (800 watts peak power)
frequency response: 25-800 Hz
sensitivity: 93 dB

I also am running these with a Directed Audio D600 Amplifier,
Type Class D Mono
Maximum Power- 600 Watts
RMS Continuous Power - 300
Freq. Response- 25-250 Hz

I am assuming I need a bigger amplifier?
How big do you recommend?

if 400 watts rms is 4 1 sub then get a 800 watt rms amp. just try to max out the sub rms rating and any sub will be good if u do that
