which is the best amp?..SX series or ZX series?
Thats all a mattter of oppinion I have a ZX300.1 Amp powering my Alpine Type R 10" Sub, and its louder and more precise than some of my friends that have 3 10's and 2 12's with a lot more power pushing them. In fact, we put our cars next to each other, and mine was the loudest with just my 1 kicker amp and my 1 10" sub. Also, read the reviews on the amps on http://crutchfield.com or there are also more reviews on http://circuitcity.com
the new setup...
I want a JL audio 1000/1 amp, those are around $600 on ebay. Well, I was searching around and I seen that the Kicker ZX1500.1 amp goes for about $200 cheaper. Are kickers good? Is the JL amp better even though it has less power, or am I just paying for the name?
JL is a better sounding amp, it simply can "control" the sub better. but it would require a very good system, and a very quite vehical to appreciate the difference. Also if you run a 4 ohm load i believe the JL actually might have more output, because kicker rated thiers at 2 ohms (i believe @ 4 it drops substantially). and JL is a constant power from 1.5-4 ohms. All in all if it were mt money i would likely go with the kicker. and save the $200 bucks for something that would make a more substantial difference. But if the rest of your system is perfect in your eyes (or should i say to your ears), then yes the jl will sound better..
On a side note, if you use the kicker into a 2 ohm load, that kind of power (1500RMS) would require some upgrades to your cars electrical system... the big three wire upgrade, and High output alternator would be required, or your lights would dim, and youd end up replacing these items anyway, because they would quickly wear out.

Frequency Response: 25-200Hz, +0/-1dB
i have two kicker zx300.1 mono block amps and i have 8 gauge for my ground to both of them and 8 gauge to both of them coming from my distribution block. but from the battery to the distribution block i have 4 gauge. but wondering if i should use 4 gauge for my ground and a distribution block that allows 4 gauge in and 4 gauge out to the amps instead of the 8 gauge that i have now.
8 ga. power wire from the distribution block to each amp should be fine as long as they are short runs, but 4ga. would be better.
And yes definitely use 4ga. wire for your ground, don't use a ground wire that is smaller than your power wire.

Or are there other amps out there that work just as well if not better for a cheaper price?
They're good amps, but they are overpriced. You can get better for the money, or just as good for cheaper.
Audioque for best budget amps ;)
the zx2500.1 and the kx2500.1 the kx is more cheaper but both amps are rated at 2500 watts but look diffrent
The ZX2500.1 has more technology inside it which makes it last longer. And also both amps mate rate at 2500w but maybe the KX2500.1 isn't true 2500w.

kicker 650.4 or comparable? need advice! - DIY Mobile Audio
To give a little background, the system in my current truck consists of a kicker zx200.2 powering 4 infinity 5.25" reference speakers, a kicker kx650.4 powering 2 infinity 6x9 reference speakers and a kicker solobaric L5. A JVC arsenal head unit controls the deal. I picked the kicker amps because of the pretty good SQ and the price point. I chose the reference infinitys for the same reasons. Some people might frown upon the infinitys, but I think they sound quite respectable and are easier on the ears at higher volumes. The second truck I am putting a system into consists of a kenwood head unit, 4 infinity 6x9 reference, and a kicker zx650.4 amp. I chose the kicker amp because of the price...
