what do you guys think about power acoustik car amplifiers?

What do you guys think about power ACOUSTIC car amplifiers? Please Rate their performance and Rate their RMS rating. Are Refurbished Kicker Amplifiers worth the money, $400.


Personally, I think Power Acoustik is crap. So do alot of people I know in car audio. Their amps do about 80% rated power. That means if it is rated at 100 watts RMS per channel, it will do about 80 per channel. If you can get the refurb cheap enough, I would get it, if it was refurb'ed by Kicker. Most of the time a brand new is one is only a little more.

Problems with Kicker IX404 Car Audio Amplifier?

Hey i have a problem w/ my kicker amplifier it get really damn hot..and after a while it shuts off..the little green power lights turns red...what seems to be the problem can any one help


i agree with inktown. all the other ppl saying to get a bigger fan dont know what they are talking about.

first, make sure you are not bridging the amp under an ohm load it does not support.

check your amp settings. never have any setting set to MAX, and never have the gain/level set over 3/4 high.

check the grounding on the amp. if the wire is not connected good, this will cause a problem. make sure the surface to where the ground wire is connected at is; clean, no dirt/oil, no paint, and is tightly on the surface.

it comes with 2 distribution blocks.
they are both exactly the same.

they are one 0gauge input
and two 4gauge outputs

im 98% sure this information is correct.
but you might want to look into it more.

    • What kind of car amplifier do I need for two l5 solo baric kickers ...

    They are rated at 750 watt RMS (375 per coil) for the L5 and 1000 watt RMS (500 per coil) on the L7. Since wattage is a measurement of amperage X Voltage you’ll need an amp that puts at least 62.5 amps to good use. Of course no amp is 100% efficient so you’ll need to figure another 10-20% realistically. The L5 would need an amp that draws approximately 70-75 amps of juice to be maxed out according to kicker’s rating. Sounds accurate to me and what I’ve seen hooked to these speakers .

    The L7 would need 95-100 amps of juice to max them out which is a hell of a lot of current. Two Rockford 1500BDs each very honestly rated at 100AMPS ought to stress the coils on even an pair of L7 15 solobarics. Or a Kicker 1200.1 with fuse rated at 150 AMPS to each solobaric but that’s only 2 ohms and you will only get "most" of the amps potential out. Kicker 1200.1 do allow amp strapping that may allow you to run low enough ohmage to extract their power but I don’t know for sure. Hope this helps a few of you out there.
