Car Audio Amplifiers Answers
Ummm...yeah the guy above, not so much the right answer. Too many faults to list here...two of the bigger ones I see is that not all amps can be bridged and he doesn't seem to understand what a DVC is. Plus he didn't mention the size of wire or mention a fuse, both rather important.
I'm going to guess those subs are 4 ohm DVC.
Since those subs are 500 watts RMS each and the amp is:
2 x 1000W RMS at 4 OHMS
2 x 1650W at 2 OHMS RMS
You will exceed the RMS ratings of the subs and blow them.
You'd be better off finding a mono (or bridgeable) amp that's 1 X 1000 watts RMS @ 4 ohms and wire the subs like so http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j230/s parky3489/PARALLEL-SERIES.jpg
Something like the Hifonics ZXi 1006:
1 x 1000-Watts RMS @ 4-Ohms

The size of wire for this should be at least 2 AWG and the fuse, which should be no more than 18" from the battery, should equal the total values of the fuses in the amp. You will also need to upgrade the alternator to push that mutch power as well as the cabling to and from the battery, ground and alternator.

in car audio you always get what you pay for
you don't pay attention to max/peak wattage's just RMS
an amps physical size has nothing to do with real power
CEA-2006 Compliant
On May 28, 2003, the Consumer Electronics Association published standard CEA-2006, "Testing & Measurement Methods for Mobile Audio Amplifiers." This "voluntary" standard advocates a uniform method for determining an amplifier's RMS power and signal-to-noise ratio. Using 14.4 volts, RMS watts are measured into a 4-ohm impedance load at 1 percent Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) plus noise, at a frequency range (for general purpose amplifiers) of 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz. Signal-to-Noise ratio is measured in weighted absolute decibels (dBA) at a reference of 1 watt into 4 ohms. This applies to both external amplifiers and the amplifiers within in-dash receivers.
CEA-2006 allows consumers to be able to compare car amplifiers and receivers on an equal basis. Manufacturers who choose to abide by the new standard are able to stamp their products with the CEA-2006 logo that reads: "Amp Power Standard CEA-2006 Compliant."
i posted that to tell you that your amp is not CEA-compliant and is very very over rated so there is no way to properly match subs because you dont really know how much wattage the amp is pushing out

I have a 03'monte carlo with a 240w pioneer cd player with 4-12in mtx subwoofers,i love big bass,i like to be heard from atleast a block away,so with that said, which amp is known for giving big amazing bass and sound.-please just pick from these two--- Power Acoustik OV2-1250
1200W Max, Gothic Series 2-Channel Amplifier OR A Lanzar VIBE246
2 Channel 1200 Watts High Power MOSFET Amplifier AND WHY FOR YOUR ANSWER
the power acoustik would be louder
s/n ratio 97 db
bass boost 18 db
frequency 10 hz
thd .02%
lanzar
s/n ratio >90 db
bass boost 12 db
frequency 15 hz
thd .04%
I bought 2 10" alpine type x subs and i'm wondering if a Lanzar HTG264 amplifier would a good amp to power these and i'm not sure if i need a capacitor or not......also what gauge wire on an amp kit should i get for best wound quality?
well that amp looks to have too small of power handling to work with those subs. odds are you will need 0/0 guage wiring a 200 amp alternator plus replacing alot of ground wires to make sure you get good power to the amp.
ok ive got a lanzar amplifier 1800D and its got the settings subsonic(15-40), low pass(50-150), phase shift(0-180), bass boost(0-18), and level, ive never tuned an amp before had the shop do it a few years ago, only my friend messed with the settings, i was just wondering what the general areas those knobs should be set at i would appreciate it
well the gains are there to match voltage between the deck and the amp intputs, you need a meter to set those properly, they are not simply volume nobs. phase shift is usually set to 0 if everything is in phase, if it was hooked up completely backwards it would be set at 180 what it does is it gets subs from different amps "in synce" with one another. bass boost is a matter of preferance really, but personally ilike it at 0 or only slightly turned up (<3) sub sonic filter you could set somewhere between 15-20, or up to whatever the lowest frequency your sub can handle it simply eliminated frequecies that are not played anyway to releive stress from the system. low pass has to do with where your high pass is set. they are usually about the same. if you do not have a low pass then likely the low pass is around 80HZ-100hz, hope that helps.
as for the previous answers if you just "tinker" with it, you'll not only have a setting less than its full potential, but you'll also run a much higher risk of damaging your equipment.
