wut do u think of the lanzar brand amps?? especially the 4000 watt 2 channel amp??
I think that most of the Lanzar amps are over rated IMO, over rated in power and price.
4000 watts amp 2 power acoustik subs, 5.0 farad capacitor and a custom box
I cannot determine which lanzar amp to purchase.
Vibe 236, or MXA 232. Both amps appear to have the same specs. 2x250 @ 4ohm rms, 2x500 @ 4ohm max, 1x1000 bridged. The vibe goes down to 15Hz and the mxa goes down to 5Hz. Is this the only difference? I thought I would get some imput from someone who is experienced before I make the buy. Thanks!
I been using lanzar for almost 15 years
sorry but both of them are junk

i was thinkin about getting a 1000 watt lanzar amp off craigslist to run 2 15s.
The old school OptiDrive amps were good. There were a blueish color, and now will look blueish-gray. The "Vibe" series is junk.

How do i wire the lanzar maxp124d subs to get the best sound? there are 8 terminals and i got a little lost when i tried to run the wires. they are 1600 watts max and they are 4 ohms. also... what amp would be the best for these subs? should i use a lanzar amp or another brand?
First off ignore max watts. Peak or Max watts represents the maximum wattage a speaker can handle for a split second and since music doesn't play at that wattage, it's not a good representation of true power. The actual power handling of that sub is 800 watts RMS.
Two, that's a 4 ohm dual coiled sub which can be wired for 1 ohm or 4 ohm if you have two of them. Since you said "subs" I'm assuming you have two.
Thrid, you'll need an amp that can push 1600 watts RMS @ 1 ohm which will mean you'll need to beef up the electrical system for best performance and to save your battery/alternator from dying.
This is how to wire them - http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j230/s parky3489/DUAL-PARALLEL.jpg
CAUTION: The amp you get MUST be 1 ohm stable and even then can still get hot and shut down from time to time. To prevent this, you'll need to spend more money on a bigger amp. One that's 1600 watts RMS @ 4 ohm with the subs wired like this - http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j230/s parky3489/PARALLEL-SERIES-box.jpg
Elelctrical Upgrades:
If your total system power is 1200 watts RMS or more, you will need to:
1. Upgrade the "Big 3" - that is to replace (or add to [recommended]) the power wire between the battery and alternator, the ground from the battery to the chassis and the ground strap from the engine/tranny to the chassis.
2. Upgrade to a yellow top battery
3. Upgrade the alternator to a high output alternator
Failure to do this will result in the early death of the alternator as it will eventually fail.
Here is a guide that will calculate what size alternator and power wires you need http://www.box.net/shared/uchv4dbk88
You will need Microsoft Excel. If you don't have Excel, you can download (free) OpenOffice by Java (Sun Micro systems) from here to read spreadsheets (and you thought spreadsheets were for business) - http://download.openoffice.org/index.htm l
A second battery is never a good idea as it's an added strain on the alternator to charge two batteries AND supply power for the car. The ONLY time a second battery is useful is if the audio system is to be used with the car off.
A capacitor is only good so far as the audio system isn't trying to pull too much from the electrical system. A cap doesn't provide more power, it's designed to 'stiffen' the voltage to the amp, nothing else. If the current isn't there, a cap won't help.
The alternator must have at least 20% more amperage power than the entire vehicle and sound system combined for a cap to be of benefit which is ironically the same requirements for an amp to be efficient.
