I have a 94 mustang with four speakers (two rear, two front). The specification for the speakers I bought say:
Diameter 5*7
Maximum Power Handling 100W
Continous Power Handling 50W
Frequency Response 62-21kHZ
How many channels should I get cause I might get a subwoofer later.
if you want to add an amp to these speakers get a 4 channel. dont get an amp that powers a sub and speakers like a 5 channel. get a 4 channel amp and then buy a seperate monoblock amp for your sub. monoblock amps are meant for subwoofers and will perform the best. but looking at the specs of your speakers you prob shouldnt get an amp for them. if your running an aftermarket deck then it is already pushing out 45 to 50 watts for each speaker. you'll prob end up blowing them. but if you really want to get one just get 2 amps like i said
Memphis 1000 AMP THAT WE PUT IN A FRIENDS CAR BUMPING HARD
Well, Ive had this amplifier for probably three years, in this time it has been sent for repair once due to a bad install. It fried.
Now after it being fixed It keeps overheating to where it gets so hot it actually burnt the MDF board it was mounted to. I changed it from a 100amp fuse to an 80 amp fuse to keep it from popping my 15 amp fuses. which worked but it is still getting too hot to operate. Should i try a 60amp fuse or do i have a problem? It was "Professionally" installed.
Also should i try to use some 10amp fuses?
its wired at 1 ohm... There used to be a capacitor hooked up until my amplifier fried.
They are two 12" 2005 Kicker solobaric squares. 4-ohms.
Ok, The subs are wired seperate from each other.
At the top the + and - are then ran to the amplifier. What kind of setup did they do? It looks kind of like a 2parallel 2series. but all 4 posts look to be connected. top + and - wired, bottom + and - wired, connected together, and another wire comming from the top + and -.
D class amplifiers don't generally get that hot ,and it should kick into thermal protection before it gets that hot ,if you have not ,give Memphis a call and see what they think ,In my opinion somethings not right with the amp .

I will vouch for matts answer... all of the brands he chose are quality!
Right now the brands you are looking at are cheap crap...
If you want something worth your money look into the RD audio Alpha 15's
They are having a sale right now and those 15s are CHEAP for thwta they are
they handle 2 k watts RMS
Also RD makes some quality amps!

right now in my car i have 2 12 inch memphis speakers which are connected to a 1200 watt xploid amplifier and i have two tweeters connected to the stereo which is like 200 watts but the speakers bass overpowers the actual music and most of the sound is in the trunk what do you recomend i buy so that it sounds better im thinking about getting some speakers for only music and putting them in the front of the car so that the sound evens out
to make your system a little more even add alpine type x coaxial to doors and rear dash.i would also up grade my amplifier from a Sony to almost any other brand. best bet hifonics. also a new head unit from alpine will help tremendously.
1.door speakers: memphis, jbl, or infinity or other
2.subwoofers: 15 inch: memphis, kicker cvx , L7 kicker solobaric, or treo ssi or other
3.amplifiers: memphis, treo, or kicker or other
lets be serious here.... im leaning to go with treo sub and amps with jbl speakers what do ya'll think?
Ok i was in your shoes 2 weeks ago. After researching many different makes i settled on this set up I'm my 06 Honda Element. 4 6 1/2 inch Infinity Kappas run by a 4 channel Rockford 60x4 amp. And for my bass 1 15 inch Kicker l7 ran by a Kicker 750z.1 amp. I also put in a top of the line Alpine CD/mp3 player. I couldn't be happier with the sound quality. My system rocks. The Kappas give off good clean highs and mids and the Solarbaric L7 flat out bangs. I'm still breaking it in and they only get better. My friends have allot of the other brands you mentioned but my set up blows any of theres out of the water. Go with this and you'll be happy. I COULDN'T IMAGINE 2 L7s!!!!!!!!!!
