old school amps

no people old school is not a brand..if anybody thought that.
I'm talking old amps such as my old Lanzar opti-drive which were FANTASTIC amps back in the day but not now.

You can find them on ebay sometime and car audio forums. good place to look is caraudioclassifieds.org and put matt87 as person who referred you to site.

All opinions welcome... no right or wrong answers. Old school vs. New School... 14.4volt CEA compliant vs. 12volt Cheater amps(underated). Give examples if You want... like I said there is NO right or wrong answer; just want to hear what the public thinks?

I personally like the older stuff. The only problem is that even though the older stuff is underrated, it is still not powerful enough to satisfy the power hungry subs on the market today.
It is getting out of hand.

a/b amps are cleaner, but only around 65% efficient
class D amps are around 80-85% efficient.
If I had to chose a newer amp, I would go with a CEA compliant class D versus the non compliant flea market amps that claim to put out thousands of watts with a 15 amp fuse (visonik).

I've always been an Orion fan(old school, prior to DEI buyout)... I'm an HCCA Fanatic !!! But a friend of mines was/is

an old school HiFonics fan; so not long ago I decided to step over to the "dark side" and try one out, just a try out.

I've yet to install them;mainly because I wanted some opinions on their performance First... ALL INPUT IS WELCOME.

I want as much input as possible because I can't find any info on these amps:

HiFonics Taurus X (4x50, 1ohm stable) AND HiFonics Centurion X (2x100, 1ohm stable)

Both are from the "American Warrior Series"

I've Googled till my eyes hurt... seriously my eyes were hurting and I can only find small scraps of info.

Does anyone have any experience with these? Any "war-stories"? Anyone has or had any friends using these? Know any "specs"?

I just want to get all of the info and opinions that I can. Then if the comments are positive, I may move forward with an install... if

negative, I guess I'll add them to my amp collection AND HIDE THEM UNDER MY ORIONS

HiFonics Taurus and HiFonics Centurion are not 1 ohm stable at leats not for a long time i have both of them and they get very HOT at 1 ohms
this is not made by ZED audio
like the older generation
but i can tell you that they are a lot better than any hifonics amplifier available now in the market
