Profile Amps??
Profile: Joshi

Anyone have any experience with Profile amps? Checking them out on Crutchfield they seem to have great reviews and offer allot of power for your money.

Opinions?

While they do offer great power at lower costs, they are made of lower quality electronics and are prone to over heating. Mine used to cut out after 2 hours of driving in the FL summer. They were the first amps I ever bought, and although I was very happy with them, if I knew what I knew now, I would have saved a lil more and gotten a brand name amp, that would have lasted longer.

New Amp ! 3 AP2000 profile amps !

New Amp ! i now have 3 AP2000 profile amps ! 2-channel car amplifier 320 watts RMS x 2 at 4 ohms (480 watts RMS x 2 at 2 ohms) 960 watts RMS x 1 ...

What's your opinion on Profile amps after buying them from Crutchfield?
Dave's Kit

I bought a profile amp today pushing 200 watts RMS to my one 12" RF sub. Do you like them?

Hello.... well shopping and investigating after the purchase is kinda a little late, but as stated before, you get what you pay for most of the time. Profile is not a "high end" company. The sell mid and low level audio products. Since you have a Rockford sub, I would have recommended a Rockford 200.2 amplifier (depending on the sub ohmage and which model). Rockford is a good and stable company and they have a good reputation. It will be easier to sell a Rockford amplifier than it will the Profile amp and get most of your money back. All that really matters is that you are happy with the way it sounds. If you have a 200 watt RMS amplifier at 2 ohms, you will have to have a single 4 ohm Rockford sub to get the full amount of power out of the amplifier. When 2 channel amplifiers tell you they are 2 ohm stable, that means running STEREO not MONO. This is crutial so you dont burn your amp up. If you have a single 8 ohm 12 then you are only getting about half of the power out of your amp. IF your sub is single 8 ohm, you need another 8 ohm sub to make the amplifier perform. IF you have a single 4 ohm, you will need a 2 channel bridgeable amp and bridge the amp. If you have a dual 4 ohm sub, you will need a mono block 2 ohm subwoofer amplifier, and if you have a dual 2 ohm sub, you will need a 1 ohm stable mono block amplifier, or a 2 channel amp. You will have to wire the dual voice coils accordingly to the ohm load that you need. Hope this helped!! Good Luck and live loud!!!

are profile amps any good?

ive been searching around crutchfield for amps and i have found that the most inexpensive ones are the Profile amps. i read the reviews and A LOT of the people say that they are as good as the more expensive name brands. so i need help. do i buy the cheaper Profile amps, or do i save money for something line an alpine?
i mean "like an alpine"

Personally, would recommend saving for something better.

Sure, folks like Crutchfield back Profile 100% and yes, it'll do the job - but be proud of what you put in your system. If you compromise now, you could very well end up upgrading later anyways.

Are profile amps any good? Please read. Experts Help.?

I currently have a monoblock hifonics 1606 pushing my 2 L7's @ 1ohm, i found this big ass profile amp that pushes 480x2 rms @ 2 ohm. I heard if i run these subs at 2 ohm, it will be a cleaner less distorted sound. A car audio "expert" said the 1 ohm power i got now is dirty power, and a 2 channel amp will sound way cleaner for my subs. THEY ARE 4OHM DVC

i have always used kicker subs, i have tried different amps from different manufactures and i always come back to the kicker amps, if you have kicker subs try to get a kicker amp because they make a amp for every sub, and every sub combination, that they make
here is were to find them at good prices ( a used kicker amp is better than a new Brutus amp out of the box)
http://www.hifisoundconnection.com/Shop/ Control/fp/tcat/31137/SFV/30046/set_num/ 2
size does not matter, (kicker amps are small, but heavy as hell) it needs to be CEA compliant like the subs (CEA compliant means that you get what you paid for and its putting out what it says it is)
hope i helped, name the size (model) of the subs and i can tell you exactly what amp you need
good luck

Anyone use profile amps...How do they sound?Opinions?

Im going to switch from a hifonics brutus 1606 to a profile ap2000 so i can run the speakers at 4 ohm bridged.....will this sound better than how they do now? they are wired @ 1ohm now. With the profile it is 960x1 RMS @ 4 ohm bridged, so my 10" L7's will get 480 each. SOund like a good idea?
i have 2 10" 4ohm dvc, they are wired to 1 ohm, and get plenty of power, but they just dont sound good. Ive been told that a 1 ohm signal is "dirty" and Im curious to know if they will sound better at 4 ohm. dont get me wrong they slam, but it just doesnt sound as clean as it should

Sounds like a good idea to me.

If you want new, go for it. If you would buy a refurb to save some cash there are other (Profile) options. You should look around for a previous generation California series amp, one that is the equivalent to the AP2000 (output-wise). Specifically, look for a CA1200, which has the same rated output as the AP2000, but is probably $100 less when purchased as a refurb.

I own 4 Profile amps, at the moment. They are all from previous generations of the California series, and they were each purchased as a refurb w/ a 1 year warranty. I have a pair of CA200 (AP400 equiv.), a CA800 (AP1200 equiv.), and a 400SX (AP600 equiv.). I got them as a refurb from Profile directly, and they were extremely cheap.

However, they are bullet proof in my car environment. Never a complaint out of any of them. Plus, I ran each of them (full range) into my Dynaudio bookshelf speakers to verify their operation when I first received them. There are certainly not any soundquality issues with any of these models, either. Not when run purely off a battery, any way.
