What are your thaughts on this amp. http://www.hifisoundconnection.com/Shop/ Control/Product/fp/vpid/3079699/vpcsid/0 /SFV/30046 I already have a hifonics bxi2006d amp powering my 2 kicker s15l7's my question is, is this amp any bit as good as my hifonics. The price of this amp suggests that it is crap but the ratings say otherwise so any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Are legacy or Soundstorm amps any good?

I have 2 10" kicker L7's @2 Ohms that i am putting in kickers ported truck box's i was wondering if any of these amps would be good enough to really push my subs and be louder than my first setup ( 1kicker 10" L7 2Ohm in wired in parellel down to 1 Ohm in kickers truck box pushed by an Orion 600D)

And if not dose anyone have any suggestions that i could get under $200 on ebay???
Also check this amp out this is looking like the one im going to get if it is even close to what it clams to be!!! cuz i only need 450 watts RMS at each woofer so 900Watts RMS but i may put them in a bigger box later so then i would need the full 600watts a peice or 1200watts together!

no they are junk, flea market trash (very over rated, you would be lucky as hell to get 1/3 to 1/2 of the advertised wattage)
just make sure it is CEA-compliant which means that it has been tested, is up to a certian quality, not over rated, and makes or exceeds its advertised wattage

On May 28, 2003, the Consumer Electronics Association published standard CEA-2006, "Testing & Measurement Methods for Mobile Audio Amplifiers." This "voluntary" standard advocates a uniform method for determining an amplifier's RMS power and signal-to-noise ratio. Using 14.4 volts, RMS watts are measured into a 4-ohm impedance load at 1 percent Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) plus noise, at a frequency range (for general purpose amplifiers) of 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz. Signal-to-Noise ratio is measured in weighted absolute decibels (dBA) at a reference of 1 watt into 4 ohms. This applies to both external amplifiers and the amplifiers within in-dash receivers.

CEA-2006 allows consumers to be able to compare car amplifiers and receivers on an equal basis. Manufacturers who choose to abide by the new standard are able to stamp their products with the CEA-2006 logo that reads: "Amp Power Standard CEA-2006 Compliant."

my soundstorm amp wont turn on?

my soundstorm amp wont turn on. i know that when the amp gets heated it cuts off until it cools down and then it comes back on. i have never had problems until now. i checked all the wires, the fuse, and capacitor but i still dont know what is wrong. the light does not come on at all on the amp but it shows that the capacitor has power. what could be wrong.


If you have access to a multimeter, I'd check all the lines going into/out of the amp.

With everything turned on, connect the ground of the multimeter to the car chassis (bare metal) and check for voltage on the positive (hot) lines, you should get a reading somewhere between 11-14 volts. If you don't get a reading, the line is not sending power. I'm assuming your main is getting power if the capacitor powers on, but what about the feed from the stereo?

If all the positives are fine, hook the positive end of the multimeter to the main power for the amp, and hook the negative end to the amp ground.

If you don't get a reading, the ground is bad/corroded. If you do get a reading, that means the amp is screwed up and will probably need servicing.

You could do this with a 12 volt test light too, but a multimeter is only $20-$25 for a descent one at Home Depot, Menard's, WalMart, etc.

Does anyone know about Soundstorm Amplifiers (car audio) specifically the Soundstorm FY1004?

I have two 10" Kicker CVR subwoofers (Kicker CVR10). Does anyone know if the Soundstorm FY1004 amp will be a good match? I'm looking to spend up to $150 on an amp and need recommendations. The subwoofers are 800watts a piece and i was thinking of an amp of at least 800 watts. Thank you for your help.


Soundstorm really are very bad amplifiers.

Look at HiFonics or Power Acoustic for a great bang for the buck amp. Also, try to find an Alpine on sale.

Second, go by RMS power ratings. 'Max' or 'peak' ratings really are useless.

ANYBODY HAVE A SOUNDSTORM AMPLIFIER *(MONO) cus i want to know if they are alright?

hey i want to buy soundstorm amp 1Fd2500 but i dont think it has the advertised wattage so if anybody has a soundstorm amp then please let me know if they have a good amount of power or if they are overrated


dang, listen to Kang, that's detailed as hell and correct
i would recommend Kicker, for low prices i would recommend JBL
