Looking for the smallest mini laptop with good specs (8-10 inch screen)?

Most important things to consider in my decision.

Price

Portability

Web Surfing abilities

I want one with a DVD player built in so I can use it for long car trips with my son, however, I've heard that I can save money by buying an external dvd burner and this is certainly an option in my decision.

I already have a great laptop, but was looking for something more portable to bring on business trips for web surfing.

Thanks for the suggestions!

just answered other question. Anyway, there is no netbook on the market that has a internal cd/dvd drive for 8-10 inch screen so please do your research! Unless you want this Toshiba Libretto?

http://cgi.ebay.com/toshiba-libretto-u10 0_W0QQitemZ250468462493QQcmdZViewItemQQp tZAU_comp_laptop?hash=item3a51156f9d& ;_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3 A12|66%3A2|39%3A1|72%3A1234|293%3A1|294% 3A50

or put in toshiba libretto u100. these are out of production but come with a port replicator, a.k.a it can play DVDs.

Again, there is NO OTHER LAPTOP WITH 8-10 INCH SCREEN WITH A DVD PLAYER!!! so your best bet is to get a netbook and buy an external dvd drive! Netbooks i recommend:

HP mini: love it and i have one (1035NR) but small hard drive but i dont care since its called an an EXTERNAL flash drive!

ASUS EEE PC:i bought one for my sister and i like it but its the 900 and it has a cramped keyboard. Nice for the little kids who dont know what a GB is.

MSi: never works, but somehow people love it for its crappiness! why? I don't know, maybe its a human thing.

ACER AND .....idk: my dad has an acer, and its known to have problems.

My recommendation: Get an HP, they can be found for a good price and also for good quality!
and please do your research, and no im not mad LOL. just didnt get breakfast!!!

How do you define poor?

The following are facts about persons defined as "poor" by the Census Bureau, taken from various government reports:

* Forty-three percent of all poor households actually own their own homes. The average home owned by persons classified as poor by the Census Bureau is a three-bedroom house with one-and-a-half baths, a garage, and a porch or patio.

* Eighty percent of poor households have air conditioning. By contrast, in 1970, only 36 percent of the entire U.S. population enjoyed air conditioning.

* Only 6 percent of poor households are overcrowded. More than two-thirds have more than two rooms per person.

* The average poor American has more living space than the average individual living in Paris, London, Vienna, Athens, and other cities throughout Europe. (These comparisons are to the average citizens in foreign countries, not to those classified as poor.)

* Nearly three-quarters of poor households own a car; 31 percent own two or more cars.

* Ninety-seven percent of poor households have a color television; over half own two or more color televisions.

* Seventy-eight percent have a VCR or DVD player; 62 percent have cable or satellite TV reception.

* Eighty-nine percent own microwave ovens, more than half have a stereo, and more than a third have an automatic dishwasher.

As a group, America's poor are far from being chronically undernourished. The average consumption of protein, vitamins, and minerals is virtually the same for poor and middle-class children and, in most cases, is well above recommended norms. Poor children actually consume more meat than do higher-income children and have average protein intakes 100 percent above recommended levels. Most poor children today are, in fact, supernourished and grow up to be, on average, one inch taller and 10 pounds heavier than the GIs who stormed the beaches of Normandy in World War II.

While the poor are generally well nourished, some poor families do experience temporary food shortages. But even this condition is relatively rare; 89 percent of the poor report their families have "enough" food to eat, while only 2 percent say they "often" do not have enough to eat.

Thanks for the details. I have known for years that the poverty level always remains constant because of the way it is determined. The census bureau arbitrarily draws a line and everyone below that line is considered poor. If at the next census there are not enough people below that line, they simply raise the line until the requisite number of people fall below it.

Quite a scam, isn't it? No matter how much the economy grows no matter how much better the poor do, the number of people viewed as needing some kind of government assistance remains constant.

Would you inmigrate?

Picture this:
You earn 10 Dlls. a day(minimum wage is $5 dlls), and these are your expenses:
400 dlls a month for a $10,000 chevy Aveo,
80 dlls a week in food for a family of four (basic groceries)
50 dlls a month for 150 minutes cell phone's air time
30 dlls a month for electric bill
15 dlls a month for water
35 dlls a month for basic cable
2.50 dlls a gallon of gasoline
500 dlls for a 25 inch tv (not hdtv nor flat)
150 for a dvd player
300 dlls a year for owning a $10,000 car
15% tax
paying double the price you pay in the states for clothes,
and so on, would you inmigrate?
Let's say, you would earn ten times your daily wage, and all the things cost cheaper and some of them half the price, also the tax is .2% would you?
(there's no war, it's a regular country, but with race prejudice like here).
Emigrate, outmigrate, inmigrate, whatever is the case.
