apex dvd player

My Apex Dvd player is acting up, it wont open to put in a new dvd. it still plays and is still functions. what can be done?

Try unplugging it from the wall then plug it back in if that doesn't work then you might have to take it apart to get the DVD out. Then you should return the DVD player for a new one.

I know APEX dvd players plays everything, but I can't find it anymore. I have many DVDs that are cheap quality, they work with my friend's APEX player, but they don't seem to work in my current system or in the more expensive systems.

The best DVD PLAYERS - for multiple formats, are actually the no-name Chinese brands that you'll see if you travel to your local China town.

Since the Chinese do not respect international patent laws, they are more likely to stuff a player with as many formats as possible such as MP3, JPEG, KODAK easyshare/ AAC/ ATRAC3, etc.

In fact, almost no major maker gives you all of these formats.

I would have to say, from experience, the only name brand manufacturer you are likely to get the most out of is SAMSUNG.

If you are looking for a killer player, I suggest you go to China town and look for a Chinese made DVD-Recorder player. The DVD recorders by default play multiple formats.

If you need specific features, I can help you find a great player since I speak Chinese and I work near Canal Street Manhattan.

**I want to be able to record from a DVD to a VCR tape**. I also have an X BOX to also be hooked to them. AND I also have a 5 button AV Selector box that everything is hooked to right now. I have all the cables & RCA jacks & no idea how to get it all to work & be able to record. Also, I have a PhillipsMagnavox surround sound stereo----help!!!

U need an XBOX adapter.... hook your adapter up through your VCR, then u can hook your DVD player through your 3 color prong hook ups to your VCR, Make sure the VCR is directly hooked to the TV...... then with one of the other output cable jacks behind your DVD player, hook just the red and white to your Stereo..... hook the VCR directly to the stereo (use an RCA jack to the tv and a 3 color prong hook up to the stereo) This should have everything hooked through your Stereo. U wil have to set your VCR to the channel your TV is connected to your cable or whatever to use it, so it is required your VCR to be on. Then you should be able to watch a DVD and just change the channe;l onyour vcr to that of the dvd player and u shoyld b able to record. This is how my system is set up. Hipoe it made some sense.

I have a orange and yellow jack and a red and white jack. Any help is appreciated!

the only ones you will need to use with a regular tv are the yellow, red, and white.

yellow is for video
red is for audio
white is audio

look on the back of your tv and connect the 3 going by color.
for some tvs you might only need the yellow and red

Unless your DVD player is sleeping or trying to say "duuuuuh," then I don't know what's up.

Does it power up? Does it read and play discs?

And adding to my comment, I agree with another poster here; Apex DVD players weren't any good. The only reason they were popular was because they were cheap and some older models had a secret menu disabling region coding and Macrovision.

Generally, if your Apex is crapping out, replace it. Preferrably, get a new player from a name brand, such as Sony. Or, if you want the best performance DVD is capable of but at the lowest cost: Oppo Digital.
