I have the thing that connects to the wall and to the cigarette lighter so, do I need the big battery that connects to the back in order to play it in the car ?
If you have the player I'm thinking of, you only need to plug it into your cigarette lighter to give it the power needed to watch your DVDs.The thing that connects to the wall should be a 12v power inverter that you can use at home to watch DVDs in the comfort of your house. You can try this link and see if they have the buyers guild for your DVD player.

I bought a Audiovox D1708 portable dvd and Im not sure how to hook it up to my tv ,so i can watch the dvd on my tv, I bought it from a friend and the manual that is in there does not explain how and do i need to put the tv on a certain channel thanks
The Audiovox has one mini din connector for Video Out. That is what you need to connect the composite video out to the TV.
Does your TV have composite video inputs? These are usually in the 2 prong audio/video type (actually two cables stuck together).
Your TV must support composite video inputs. The cable that connects the DVD to the TV is most likely supplied with the DVD player. It looks like a pin on one end and goes to two RCA connectors on the other end.
The pin side goes in the DVD's video out and the RCA side goes to the TV.

it worked yesterday, and today, nothing. i've only had it for about 3 months, but i have used it alot. i've checked all the outlets and nothing works. your feedback is wanted and appreciated!
These little power supplies or wall warts as they are frequently called aren't always of high quality. While they don't usually have many parts it's easy enough for one to fail. 3 months isn't long. Check and see if the warranty is still valid. If not, you should be able to buy a replacement power supply for a reasonable cost. Check with the store you purchased it from or check the company web site. Either one should be able to help you.
This DVD player was bought last Thanksgiving, and suddenly, it won't recharge when I plug it in as it normally does. Does anyone have a clue what may be the problem? It refuses to charge or even turn on. HELP! My sister will be seriously pissed if it doesn't work. Please help me!
The model number is PVS33116.
sounds like the charging cable is broken in a sense. the cables that you hook it up to have torn due to to much tension like wrapping them around and kinks. you might need to get a new one. and if that doesnt work your wall outlet doesnt work or the DVD player is broken itself.
hope this helps. good luck with your sis.
I Lost the charger to my audiovox dvd player. I can't seem to find a place were I can buy another one. If anyone know a store or website were I can find the charger to match my dvd player please let me know.
thanks
When I worked at Radioshack, a lot of times we were able to make an adapter with the interchangable adapters that we sold. Try bringing it into a Radioshack and let them make one for you, they used to cost around 20 bucks, I don't know what they'd cost today.
If you can't find it there, try ordering it straight from Audiovox.

I have not been too familiar with this player. But I read from the manual book, this VBP500 Audiovox mobile DVD player is very rich on features main. Other than that, it has taken a lot of handling, traveling, wear, tear and has kept right on working. It has been a very reliable unit for us. And I think for the price not too expensive, only $249.99 (
