car dvd player power

I have just got a DvD player for my car and will be getting 1000Watt sub and amp to go in as well soon.. Problem is im worried all these products will make my battery go flat.

I sit in my car Altot with friends and we came up with the idea of getting the DvD player and all for entertainment but because we will be watching films with theenginen off the battery wont be getting charged..

My question is, How can i stop this from happening? shall i install another battery to power the DvD player from? i heard that i could install a capacitor but not sure what it is.. or shall i just get a Portable jumper kit just in case?

you can't run electronics without them getting their electricity from somewhere.

a second battery would be the best route to go if you want to run electronics with your car off, but when your car is on having a second battery and a 1000 watts amplifier, and a dvd player, etc, your alternator will be working on a very large load. Because now it will have to charge 2 batteries, along with running everything else in your system.

as for a capacitor. it will be useless for what you are intending to do. a cap is used to stiffen the voltage while your car is running. it charges up to the same level as your alternator, then when your alternator has a voltage drop the cap kicks in and supplies electricity for your system. without the alternator charging it up however, a cap will expend its electricity very quickly. you probably won't get 5 minutes of dvd watching if its only hooked up to a cap without the alternator running.

I got a Venturer Dual screen DVD player for my car as a Christmas gift.. The requirements are a 12v thing... where the cigarette lighter thing goes... it's a 12v, but I can't get the thing to fit!
Anyone else had this issue? How the hell do I make it fit? I've tried gently squeezing the metal prongs on the side of the adapter (that's what wont go in) but I'm afraid if I squeeze too hard I will crush the fuse inside. Any ideas?

check with car audio shop.you might need a different cable(10-15 bucks).

It needs to be reset in order for it to light up. It is wired correctly. Aside from being the unit itself that may not be working correctly, there is a fuse that is found on the yellow battery wire. The fuse seems fine, and the previous indash player worked fine.

This is basically what happens:
1. I turn on the car, but the unit does not light up.
2. I hit reset.
3. The unit lights up.
4. I turn off the car.

5. If I turn on the car again, the unit does not light up.
6. I need to hit reset for the unit to turn on.

The unit is a model TS-393 (also known as DV-393) made by Avatar Electronics Ltd. You can find the unit on eBay be those model numbers.
I drive a 1999 RAV 4. Something tells me it may be the fuse in the middle of the yellow wire on the unit. My old unit did not have one, what would happen if I were to eliminate it altogether, would the fuse from the car handle it?

It sounds as though your 12 volt accessory (typically a red wire) is not connected properly. This wire is what signals the unit to turn on and off with the vehicle. Either that, or the 12 volt constant wire (typically yellow) is connected to a 12 volt swithed power source.

Double check all your wiring - if all wiring is confirmed correct, there may be a problem within the unit itself, but it is impossible to tell with the little information you provided. Additionally, there are certain vehicles (you did not include the make and model of yours) that do not have a 12 volt switched power source behind the radio.

I am borrowing my dad's dvd player for a trip and need to use a car charger. I have a 12v car charger and the house charger for the dvd player says 14v. Will the car charger work on the dvd player without breaking it.

Your DVD player will be okay. The trick is not to use a higher voltage than the one specified on the DVD player.

The DVD may work on the lower voltage but may not. You'll have to plug it in and see.
