I do not know what polarity the player is, positive or negative
I tried to find a decent picture or technical specs for your player, but couldn't. Hopefully I can still help. Somewhere on the data plate for the player, there should be a listing for the power specifications. It should be something like 12VDC or 14VAC. It should also have a polarity diagram. That looks something like this - C + or + C -. The C will typically have dot in the middle of it. The sign, + or -, that has the opening of the C facing it, will be the polarity of the center pin of your power supply. If you have a universal power supply with interchangeable and reversible tips, they should have a little symbol like what is on the player to show which way they connect to give the proper polarity. Once you get the two symbols to match, plug it in and you're off to the races.
I love this. I Definently prefer this for DVD Watching on the go
I wanna buy a portable DVD player for our minivan and I have a choice of the brands I mentioned above. I've heard of COBY and Audiovox before but never heard of the last 2. Can anyone recommend the best of these 4 choices? They all cost about the same.
Funny you should ask...I travel for a living and have personally owned one of each...no, seriously. I have had nothing but problems with the GPX and the Mintek, but the Audiovox has always ran flawlessly. COBY...not bad but had a slight problem with it reading some of my kids DVD's. I have no idea of why just my kids DVD's and not mine, but that is my answer. Go with the Audiovox...Half the price of the Sony , Toshiba, and Panasonic ones...and just as good.
i have dozens of cable, i have many viewing things, but my computer had a bigger screen than my tv so... also.. i need it in my room, downstairs i kept coming home to a little sibling having crashed it, so, i have a GPX portable dvd player model # PD708B which is shown here: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/ SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=37129 38&CatId=1703 and i have 3 cables that seem to be the same as they say i need, but i can only just get audio, there's always a buzzing sound, and the screen stays blue, is it b/c its analog or digital signal? i also have a Sony DCR-TRV280 Digital8 Handycam Camcorder : http://www.amazon.com/Sony-DCR-TRV280-Di gital8-Handycam-Camcorder/dp/B0007M3PJO i am able to get the wii to show up on the screen, but it' so small and it goes to sleep so often, and i try to firewire to the computer, but then it cancels the streaming from the plug, so plz help me, I don't want o have to buy any special cables, otherwise i wouldn't be asking, would i?
well, the thing is, that you need certain cables in order to do this.
First, you wont be able to plug it into the portable DVD player, so just forget about that.
The computer screen is your best bet. In order to do that, you will need either an S-video input on your computer OR a Wii VGA cable...if you don't have those things, then patching it thru your Handycam via firewire is the only other way - tho it is very inefficient as you have found out.
sorry, but there is no easy fix. I know it seems like you should be able to do it easily because there are screens all over your room (dvd player, computer, handycam) but just because there are tons of screens, doesnt mean they can have any type of video input...
edit: something like this would work to...this will allow you to plug your wii into your computer screen... http://www.amazon.com/VGA-Monitor-Input- Convertor-Selector/dp/B000JCLLUW
I took matters into my own hands in repairing a portable DVD system manufactured by GPX. The player in question is model number PDL705. I have managed to restore functionality of the lithium battery, but another problem persists. Whenever I place a CD or DVD (doesn't really matter which) I get a check disc error. The player doesn't seem to load the disc period. This particular player was manufactured in September of 2005, if that helps any. Any clue as to what is going on? Thanks in Advance :-)
buy a new one.....
i took it on a bus trip, and i set it on the floor by my feet...it might have gotten cold but it couldnt have been THAT cold..
is there someway i can fix this?! its a gpx PDL805
I've had it for about 2 years...I dont have anything that came with it, only the box.
Did the plasma screen get ruined permanently because of the cold? And also in response to the other answer-- Could i actually take it back? would they be able to if i dont have anything frmo it?
from what i read.. it doesnt seem like it could be unless you take it too best buy and let the geek squad take a look at it. b/c probrably a small wiring fell out and detached from the video screen. That might be why its a white screen, i dont think i could of been the cold because everything would of stayed in tacked, and if it was damaged from cold i doubt it would of even started.. most likely chance was from the bus' bumpy ride and a wire fell out of your dvd player somewhere inside
