legacy car dvd player

i installed my legacy indash dvd player on Saturday and it work very good..sunday morning the screen was black but the deck was still powered even when my car was turned off. im thinkin its either burnt out or its because i bypassed grounding it to the e-brake. i dnt believe its burnt out because i only had it installed for 24 hours. But i dnt want best buy to look at it for 17 bucks and hour to tell me somethin i already kno..please help me

I have an 02 RSX base auto and I've just recently installed a
LEGACY LD33M DVD player to my car(Professionally done). A few hours after it is installed, I noticed a smell like plastic burning coming from the front-left of the hood. Is this something that will go away? Or is it something really important? Please help me! Thanks in advance.
there's only a plastic smell after i turn on the DVD player for a while. BTW, I've already took the car back to where they installed it and they say all of the wiring and harness or whatever were fine.

that's not normal Take it back to where they installed the DVD before it's too late, and always have a small fire extinguisher handy.

I have some basic car audio questions.

1. If I ran two 150 watt RMS subs, could I use a one channel 300 watt amp to power them?

2. Are RCA ports on the back of a head unit just another way to put out sound like the back of a DVD player?

3. Can I use RCA cable from my TV to run from a head unit to an amp?

4. 1. Yep, thats fine.
2. Yes.
3. You can, but the proper equipment would be best.
4. It would be fine, whether you run it at 8-2 ohms. remember it would be louder at lower ohms.
5. You wouldnt need a capacitor for a small setup like that.
6. 4 gauge would be the best, and it will be handy if you ever upgrade. You would also be safe with 8 gauge on that setup.
Remote wire would be more basic; Any little wire would do.

I'm looking to buy my first car, and I'm looking at around an under 14k budget. I was wondering if anyone has an opinion on whether i should get a 2005 nissan altima with the luxury "SL" package (as low as possible miles) or a scion tC, which i found barely used '06, '07, and even '08 tC's for less than the nissan. The scion is a less expensive, a little sportier, would be newer with less miles, and easier to find, but lacks the luxury of the altima (leather, fancier interior, ect...). The altima is also a 4dr with a big back seat, but reviews say the scion's back seat is large enough and not hard to get in/out of. The audio difference is Bose in the altima and pioneer in the tC, and the tC comes with available subwoofer (standard for 08). Here is what i know i will do to the car no matter which i get: it has to be black, i will be lightly tinting the windows, will be adding black rims with a chrome lip, and adding an indash touchscreen CD/MP3/DVD/TV multimedia player (probably a jensen VM9022). The jensen fits in both cars, and I will have a local shop put it in for me to replace the stock head unit/deck. I have also looked at cars like the 06 Ford Fusion and 05 subaru legacy, among many other, but i think i like the altima and tC the best. not only do they look very nice, nissan and toyota (scion) are very reliable and dependable companies. They also both resale well. However, i am open for an suggestions if there are cars you think i should look at.
