My husband is really handy, but I want to make sure that my older car would have the right connections for him to be able to install it. I would like to get one under $200 and be able to take it out and install it on a newer vehicle in the future. I want one that has a built in dvd player in the monitor. Any suggestions on brand, etc would be helpful.

Overhaed dvd players can be installed in pretty much and car now-a-days. You can even pick one up at walmart, with all the mounting hardware, for cheap.

Depends on what tools and experience you have, what quality the product you are installing is, and a number of other factors...

Generally if you have experience, tools and enough wire, you can easily install it in under 2 hours. If you have never installed anything like this before, and you aren't particularly handy, DO NOT EVEN ATTEMPT IT! You are dealing with electrical connections with moderate current that aren't likely to shock you, but if you don't make secure connections, you could possibly cause a fire in your car.
I only know because I have seen it happen when I was a salesperson at a high end electronics store.

I have a 2005 Acura MDX with the nav screen built into the dashboard. I'd like to install an overhead DVD player visible to the back seats. Is it possible to connect the in-dash screen to that player so the front seat passenger can watch a DVD?

Yes, anything is possible...Not really sure if your factory system plays dvd's,but it doesn't even matter. Look up p.a.c.(sometimes called periphial) electronics for all you need adapter -wise...

The dvd system is in a 2005 Chevy Uplander and we are wanting to buy a 2004 Ford F150 Lariat it has the rail system but no dvd player. If we can switch it back and forth from the van to the truck that would be Great!

I wouldn't try it myself. I would get proffesional help if I was going to try something like that. You should consider looking at portable dvd players that are basically the same thing, but they are portable, and you plug them into a cigaret lighter.
