I have a Panasonic portable DVD player. I see by the hole for the power plug that it says 9V. Could I buy any 9 volt AC adapter and plug my player into my car? Would this hurt my player? The factory car adapter is quite expensive.
And no...I'm not going to watch it while I drive.
you need an adapter that will convert the 12v DC car battery to 9v DC for your DVD player. It also needs to be able to supply enough current. If you have the specs for the factory car adapter then you could use one that matches the same specs. Just make sure the voltage is the same (9v DC), and the current is at least the same. Example is if the factory one outputs 200ma, then the one you get needs to be able to output at least 200ma, but it could also be higher, say 300ma, but it would cost more.
As someone alse said, aslo make sure the polarity is the same. Most likely if it isnt it just wont work. I doubt very much it would damage the DVD player.

Is there a portable DVD player (that can mount in my car/ headrest) that can hook up to a second portable DVD player and play a movie in one and show it on both?
I purchased 2 Panasonic Portable DVD players for my car and I have tried several things to get them to work consecutivley. I seem to be at a loss to get them to work together so I am hoping that someone can recommend a different set of 2 portable DVD players that can make this possible.
Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

Im wanting to buy a panasonic portable DVD player that is on sale for an awesome price because it is refurbished. It is a DVD player that you can also mount in your car and thats what I want it for so my daughter can watch her movies on trips we take so what does it mean when it is refurbished and should I get it or would it be better to get one that isnt and pay a couple hundred dollars cause thats how much I have seen them for but didint really want to spend that kind of money so can I get some advice?
To refurbish is to renew or restore to a new condition and/or appearance. In the electronics world, refurbished equipment is not necessarily defective in any way; it may just be "old". When hardware is refurbished, the components are examined and non-working parts are replaced. Sounds like a great deal to me..

My kids have video cameras. One is a Vidster, one is a VideoNow brand camera. Neither take very high quality pictures, but my kids like them. I also have a Dazzle video converter to put my own Hi-8 videos onto my PCs for editing. Yay! What fun! Down load it to YouTube! All of these products and their software (for editing etc.) make .avi videos. That is just fine.
The problem is this: My kids want to make DVDs that will work in their grandparents, and cousins and friends standard (cheap) DVD players. I thought I could solve the problem with my Panasonic DVD recorder. I ran the .avi signal though the Panasonic and it recorded a DVD for me. Lovely. Problem: The DVD made doesn’t work on any other deck than the one it was recorded on, not the in-car DVD players, the portable DVD player, the $40. cheapie in my daughter’s room, not my parents or my in-laws.
I don’t want to buy any more electronics. All I want is a (cheap or free) app that will convert .avi to a universal DVD format.
I suggest you download Cucusoft AVI/MPEG to DVD Converter, or ConvertXtoDVD
- I recommend the first.
It will convert your video files to the dvd format readable by all standard dvd players, then burn automatically to DVD!
it is easy to use, fast and it works! give it a try, you'll love it
1. Download AVI/MPEG to DVD Converter here:
http://www.burner-software.com/AVI-to-DV D-Converter/MPEG-AVI-to-DVD-VCD-Converte r.html
It can convert any video file.. like wmv, mpeg, asf, avi to dvd
2. Add or drag-n-drop as many video files as the DVD can handle
3. Insert blank DVD
4. Click Convert
5. Enjoy watching those video files on your home DVD player! =)
cheers.

Sylvania SDVD8727 Dual 7-Inch Widescreen Portable DVD Player ...
Sylvania's 7-Inch Dual Screen Portable DVD Player is the perfect travel companion. Featuring dual 7-Inch Widescreens with 16:9 TFT color displays with seat back mounting system, stereo audio output, stereo earphones, remote control and 2 Car Mounting Bags. The SDVD9000 also boasts DVD, DVD+-R/RW, CD, CD-RW, MP3 and JPEG compatibility. Overall, I'd say this product is a best-buy for the money. We didn't want to spend too much on a system since our kids are 2 and 4, and we knew that whatever we bought would take a lot of abuse and might not be long for this world. We found the Sylvania dual-dvd at a national department store for about half the price of every other dual-dvd system we researched....
