portable car dvd mp3 cd player

For instance, rather than buying a new CD deck for my car, would it be smarter to just buy a portable DVD player, and record my music to DVD (in order to hold much more songs per disc). Do most portable DVD systems play audio-only discs? or am i way off track? lol

you can play regular cds on a portable dvd player or you could buy a cd player that is mp3 compatible. You can burn over 100 mp3s on to cds. I would reccomend just getting an ipod or something with a car adaptor. It holds tons of songs and you would be able to take it anywhere

Yes, it means you can use the lighter as a plug. You can either use it to charge the battery, or power the device.

I wouldn't know because I rarely ever go shopping and I know very little about electronics so if you could let me know if this is a deal or not I would surely appreciate it.

Can you get a similar deal elsewhere, maybe not as good but close?
How much is shipping and handling? If that's another $99.95...
What kind of warranty do they offer upfront?
Is the unit actually new or refurbished?
What is their Return Policy if the item doesn't work as promised?
Can you pay by credit card (which gives you certain legal recourse in the event of dispute)?

Walmart's got all kinds of portable DVD players ranging from $70 - $159. So someone claiming that their unit is worth $410, but they'll sell it to you for $100, sounds a little over-inflated to begin with. And shipping and handling wipes out any REAL savings you might have gotten.

Short answer is No, it doesn't sound like all that good a deal.

Ok, I have never owned one before even I am a Mac solo use since 1988. I have been using iTune on my Mac and has thousands of music on my computer. I burn CDs and just listen to them in my car. I also have a portable CD / MP3 player in my bed room, and also DVD / MP3 player in my living room where I can play all my Cds.

Now, what is the point of having iPod ? (I know its tiny portable and you can listen to it when you are going for jog or something) but if I were to get one, where would I use it? and what kind is a good iPod to buy? I've noticed that there are many generations. Also, iPod touch? what are these ?

hehehe. Please kindly explain these to me. I know I got behind on these gadget.

Ipods are geat 4 music lovers, and they are alot better then MP3 players....
as you said there are many generations of the ipod ranging from:
- The Ipod Shuffle = which has no screen and its like it is on "shuffle" because the next song that will be played is unknown... this is probably the cheapest ipod.
- The Ipod Nano = which is just a regular ipod, besides the fact that they can now capture video, they now even talk 2 you and tell you what song is playing, and lots of other fancy gadgets
- The Ipod Classic = Again another regular ipod but is is bigger and bulkier than the nano, it can hold me GB and can store Videos and Tv shows.
- The Ipod Touch = I have 2 say this is definately the best IPOD there is, obviously it is touchscreen, you can store movies and pictures on it, go on the internet, and download applications such as games or anything that may interest you..
- The Iphone = Exactly the same as the Ipod touch, except that it is an Ipod and phone in one and is thicker than the ipod touch. Honestly this is better value 4 money than the ipod touch as it is 2 in 1

So that is all the ipod types, people dont just buy them for jogging, but lets say if you go on a long car drive and the songs on the radio don't interest you, grab your ipod and listen 2 ur own music, or even watch some movies or music videos. Personally i think the Ipod Touch is definately the best as i said before, as i have one myself, ALOT better than an ipod nano or ipod classic, or shuffle
