sony car dvd player

i was bought the sony mex dv 2000 indash dvd player. a lot of people say sony sucks and they dont last long. is this new indash dvd player good, is sony car dvd players better than jvc arsenal. what brands make the best indash car dvd players. does the sony mex-dv2000 indash dvd player compare witrh models like jvc or eclpise alpine costing much more.

And what is it that your car DVD player has to do with "Home Theater Electronics", the subject of this forum? I think you want the "Cars & Transportation - Car Audio" forum.

Just a test video of the Sony XAV-A1, connected to a car battery and speaker to test if its working fine. Passed with flying colours.

I have a sony in car dvd player, and have just noticed it has started making a weird 'whirring' noise. It has a motorised 7 inch screen, and after that comes out it sounds like the motor for it is still going or something. just wondering if anyone had ever had this problem before? and can it be fixed?

the teeth of the wheel are damaged thats why the motor is still revolving and thus the sound - a big problem, regular use will make the wheel damaged which in time can stop the mechanism

I bought a couple cds to burn my itunes music onto. But, when i tried to play it on my dvd player or car stereo, it says either this disk cannot be played or cd error. What type of disk should i buy? An audio cd, a cdr, or a dvd?

Should be fine with a blank audio CD or CDR (basically the same thing), not DVD as DVD audio is extremely specialist.

When you click burn in itunes select audio CD. If you have an old version of itunes you'll have to go file>preferences>advanced>burning and select audio CD.

If its music you've purchased on itunes some of it won't burn as it may be DRM protected. Only more recent stuff under the brand itunes+ will be able to burn onto CD's.

before i put a dvd player in my car. I had a casette player in my car. I hooked my home audio casette player recorder to my sony dvd player 2 audio connections in the. I recorded my rock dvds music encoded with dts etc. does recording from a dvd or cd to a cassette tape take away from the quality of the source master recordingdvd or cd. example is led zeppelin how the west was won dvd audio then record it to a cassette tape connected directly to the dvd player does the master recording led zep how the west was won loose any of its quality. thanks

Tape cassettes are very narrow and run at low speed, so audio quality has always suffered in that format. Added to the problem is common edge damage (minute though it may be) may normal usage which further reduces quality. Cassette quality is hissy (which led to the innovation of Dolby Noise Reduction), as well as limited frequency response. CD (and DVD) can easily render 20 hz - 20 Khz, while tape cassettes might render about 80 hz - 13 Khz.

Now, in your car, with road noise and everything else, it may not matter (depends on the inside acoustic quality of your vehicle). But strictly DVD vs Cassette, if you can imagine watching B&W TV for a few weeks, and then seeing color TV again, that would be the same dramatic effect as listening to cassettes and then hearing DVD's.

The incredible increase in audio quality of CD's blew away tape cassette technology long before people also gave up their vinyl records.

It's a curious thing, I got some DVDs which are new and I watched them completely fine in my PC and in my laptop.

After that I watched the same discs in a regular Sony DVD player and in a Pioneer DVD player in my car but surprise: Both got stuck in some points just like when you try to play a disc with scratches on its surface.

So, what do the computers have in their systems that avoids this errors?

PD: If I made any mistake with my spelling or my redaction, please forgive me because my English is not perfect.

Basically, the computer has much better processing power and buffer RAM inside the player and does not have to rely on the overly-cheap parts often used for standalone players.

Also, the optical drive in a computer is fairly standard in that it will play anything. The hardware inside a standalone player???.. your guess is as good as mine but basically you get what you pay for. A $30 SONY player will certainly under perform a $300 high-end player.
