10 inch car speakers

I'm looking into a sub, or car speakers. I like the bass, but i also want to be able to listen to stuff like Acceptance and other bands like that. I also don't want the rattling, but I like the bass a sub gives off. So to my question. Should I get like a 10in sub or replace my stock speakers? I have a 06 Honda Civic. Thanks!

if your car has 6.5 inch speakers, you can replace those with some Boston, Polk, or Infinity speakers and an amp, and you'll have plenty of bass for most music other than rap or bass cd's. and the clarity will be 5X better than stock speakers

it depends on what kind of music you listen to... also if you have any other upgraded components to your stereo. if the stereo is stock and your adding a sub generally it will drown out the vocals at high volumes...
if you want to add a nice clean mid/low bass to your sound spectrum in your car 150-200 watts RMS would do fine.. any larger without any additional upgrades would unbalance the sound in my opinion ie..( to much bass not enough vocals)

as far as an amp and sub i personally can recommend a JL W0v2 and either a JL 250/1 amp or even an alpine of similar power...

JL and alpine are higher priced than the average market subwoofer but the overall quality and performance wont disappoint... and you will have classy audio stuff so ppl cant give u crap for having lesser gear than them.

Would like to change a 10 inch also a 12 inch speaker can you tell me the best speaker for the price and will car speakers work.

It can work but most car speakers are 4 ohms and home amps work best with 8 ohm speakers. There is alot more to it though. Every speaker works best with a certain amplification, enclosure air space, crossover etc... To just buy a speaker and put it in because it fits doesn't address the speakers other needs. I wouldn't do it. Even if it sounds ok, improper resistance may put additional strain on your amp and send it or your speaker to an early grave.

i have 10 speakers in my car (a 92 honda accord), 2-6.5" inch speakers in the front door panels, 2-6.5" inch speakers in the rear deck, 4 6x9 speakers in a box atop the rear deck, and 2 subs (a 10 inch with an amp and a 12 inch with a preamp) in the trunk. the situation i have is that when i cut the car stereo on with everything hooked up, the only speakers that play are the subs, but when i unplug the 6x9s from the amp, the speakers in the rear deck and door panels play, and then when i reconnect the 6x9s, all the speakers play. it all works fine but i have to open the trunk, disconnect and reconnect the speakers and then close the trunk every time i cut the stereo on, and this gets annoying when i move around a lot, because i cut the car off when i get out and go into a building. the amp is lower than the max speaker rating, so i don't think anything is shorted, and everything works when i go through that process, so im not sure whats wrong, can anyone help me?
