Hey! Do any bass players know if 10 inch speakers can handle a low B on a bass?
IMG_7487ps

I'm planning on getting a Schecter Studio 5. Now, I want a decent amp, but I really like a crisp sound and wanted an Ampeg 2x10. I think it would sound cleaner than a 15 inch. I'm just concerned the smaller speakers might not be able to handle a low B with such powerful electronics behind it. So yeah if you have any experience, please let me know. Thanks.

You're right - a 10" speaker isn't going to help you very much in terms of low end. 10" speakers give you a punchy mid-range and clear highs, but they don't project bass frequencies very well. If you still wanted your sound more "crisp", you could try a 4x10" cabinet - it wouldn't be as portable as a 2x10", but you'd have a slightly better low end simply because more speakers = more air movement.
Yes, a 15" speaker would give you the defined low end you're looking for, but at the expense of a lot of high end.

The best thing I can suggest to you is get two cabinets. Most amplifiers only run at their full power at 4 ohms (and most cabinets run at 8 ohms), so you could do this - hook your amplifier up to a 2x10" (or 4x10") cab and a 1x15" cab - that way, you'd probably be getting more juice out of your amp, and your tone would be much more well-rounded.
You can also get 1x18" cabinets, which would have an even better low end than a 1x15" (though proportionally less mid-high range). However, these can be hard to find and pretty expensive. 4x10" cabs can also be a bit more expensive than 2x10"s or 1x15"s.

A good alternative to getting a 2x10" + 1x15" would be to get a 2x12" cabinet. 12" speakers are sort of in between 10" and 15" speakers, both in size and tone. If you don't really want to buy two separate cabinets, I would recommend this.

Hope that helps a bit, and that you find what you need =)
Cheers

whats the best car subwoofer watts to have for 10 inch speakers and amp?
IMG_7471ps

it depends on what kind of music you listen to... also if you have any other upgraded components to your stereo. if the stereo is stock and your adding a sub generally it will drown out the vocals at high volumes...
if you want to add a nice clean mid/low bass to your sound spectrum in your car 150-200 watts RMS would do fine.. any larger without any additional upgrades would unbalance the sound in my opinion ie..( to much bass not enough vocals)

as far as an amp and sub i personally can recommend a JL W0v2 and either a JL 250/1 amp or even an alpine of similar power...

JL and alpine are higher priced than the average market subwoofer but the overall quality and performance wont disappoint... and you will have classy audio stuff so ppl cant give u crap for having lesser gear than them.

I have an f150 supercrew 2001 and i got 10 inch speakers kicker cvt so wat can i do to make it sound better???
IMG_7472ps

the speakers are 4 ohm and go to 800 watts peak and 400 rms...and i have a v.a audio amp on them but they dont sound very good....wat can i do...oh yea and professionaly installed...

What do you mean by better??...LOUDER or better Sound Quality??...If they were profesionally installed and you want to be louder then I would put them in a ported box...that should give you more volume...just make sure the speakers were designed to work in a ported box...if you want better Sound Quality then..New speakers is the answer...I recommend JL Audio or Rockford Fosgate for SQ

what would be the best 10 inch speakers to put in a f150 truck without having to get the slim ones?
IMG_7484ps

Modern subwoofers are all at least half as deep as they are wide unless you get slim versions. Pioneer, JL Audio, and Kicker all make slim subs.

There is a little trick we "old school" folks used to use to gain an additional 3/4" of mounting depth. Basically build a regular truck stlye box, but with no rear panel. Then we would mount the box to the rear of the cab. Using the rear of the cab as the rear panel of the box. Make the cab wall smooth using body filler or "putty-like" dampening material and put additional putty on the wall to add stability. This method should allow you to use a sub with about 5-5.5" of mounting depth.

I need info to build 2 speaker boxes for 2 jbl 10 inch speakers?

I am making a 3 way system that is a audio system

The most important components to get right in a speaker
building project are the crossover (designed around the
speakers your are going to use so that they will best
complement each other), and the enclosure size
and structural design to get the most out of
your 10" JBL woofers. If you get these
two parts right, the rest will pretty
much fall into place and you
will have an excellent
sounding speaker
system.

Here are some sources that will help you have success...
