i know that the speaker rms is 1000 watts, this amp if im not mistaken puts out 1000 watts at 2ohms, will the amp overheat? how should the speaker be wired? can this amp power this sub perfectly?

as long as you don't try to overdo it you should be ok, keep in mind companies will write 1000 on the box to get you to buy it, you shouldn't actually be trying to push that much all the time. and as far as wiring the speaker, if the amp is only one channel, i don't think you really have options

Picture this: 2 6 1/2 inch 100 watt speakers built into an old used plastic cooler. I've got a used pioneer 100 watt 2 channel amp, and although it's probably really only 50 watts RMS, it'll work fine for this. The inputs go into the amp coming from a normal 3.5 mm jack like you stick into your ipod, portable cd player, or sirius radio.

You can't get this kind of power with decent sound in a jambox for less than 200 or so. I'm not making an award winning system here. Just something loud w/ fidelity for tunes when grilling and chilling or an outdoor party.

The problem is the power supply. I've checked around, and I can't find where you can easily step down 110V AC to 12 VDC. (There's inverters from 12 V to 110AC everywhere you go though)

I don't want to spend a 100 bucks on a power supply or have to screw around recharging a deep cycle 12 V battery. It would triple the weight of the thing too

Is there another way to do this? A cheap way?
