I know nothing about monitors. What to look for? I feel stupid going into a store and I don't have any idea what I am doing. The sales people look at me like they know I am an idiot. HELP? I almost forgot, flat screen with speakers.
Viewsonic makes an excellent flat screen. Mine is a 17 inch and it has excellent color. It is one of the most affordable name brands.

We are looking into buying a new desktop, and would sell our current desktop on ebay to get money for buying a new one. The desktop that we would sell includes: CPU (Intel Pentium 4 processor), 17 inch monitor, included speakers, included keyboard, HP photosmart 1115 printer, and a Logitech optical mouse. We would remove the 120 gb hard drive, and use it for other purposes and not sell it. Does anyone have an estimate of how much we could sell this setup for on ebay? If we did end up getting a new desktop, what would be a good, budget choice with 1gb RAM memory, 160 gig hard drive, and a core 2 duo processor? Thanks!
with no hard drive you might get $100.00 maybe a little more if the right person is looking for it .... me if i was buying a new computer i would not buy one with less then 2 gig because the new windows vista will take up a lot of the first gig think it is almost half of a gig but not 100% sure ...but you should check in to it the hard drive sound good

Anyone who can recommend a good brand for a laptop? I've checked with the following: Acer, Dell, Toshiba, Sony, and Gateway. I need 516MB, 80GB of hard drive space, a DVD/CD writeable drive, internal speakers, 15-17" inch monitor, and possibly a TV tuner. Oh, and wireless compatibility.
Sony VAIO's are cool and really sexy. lol. but they're pricey. I personally have a Dell and it's great. Absolutely no complaints with Dell. I have a 'Latitude: D610'. There could be a newer model, i don't know. I got mine in Feb this year and i love it. Just make sure you have good anti virus and firewalls and you'll be set!
Hi! I have a PCI-Express ATI card, that i wish to place in my PC. however, it only has one AGP slot and 4 PCI slots. I have read in the internet that it takes only a "bridge chip", yet no thing clarifies it. i just want to know what that is. Also, any information on where i can buy this Bridge chip in the philippines is a great help.
SPECS:
Pentium IV 2.26 GHZ
1.256 MB DDR-1 RAM, PC-400 and PC-333
TV Tuner at PCI Slot
Windows XP SP2 With Vista Transformation Pack
ASUS P4VP-MX
Motherboard Sound Card
17 inch Monitor
2 Speakers (Real Old)
1 Microphone (1997)
1 Webcam
Smartbro Wireless Internet
A really dusty frame
Sony DVD+-R Writer
Mostly Recycled parts. I am planning to Replace the Video Card, Gigabyte, on my AGP with an ATI Radeon Card that was used by my uncle. It is relatively new, since it was junked because it cannot be used for video editing.
Any Help will go a long way, bords.
Woah man. Don't outthink yourself based on what you read.
Bridge chips are a part of the motherboard. In the case of PCI-E you must have a newer motherboard with PCIe slots (and bridge chips) already on them. That P4VP-MX board won't run run that card. Unfortunately you likely have to upgrade your entire motherboard and any interdependant devices to run a PCIe card (i.e. CPU, RAM. power supply).
PCIe is a different physical slot size as well that replaced the AGP port(s). They also tend to take more power, so consider power consumption when upgrading as well (i.e. power supply).
Hope this helps.

- No swivel that allows the screen to point up at varying degrees. So monitor is always perpendicular to the surface.
It is a 17 inch screen. If you can live with that size then this is a very good purchase. I kind of wish I would have spent another $50 to get a larger screen. Oh well.
EDIT: Upon further use, I noticed that the screen cannot go all black. When the screen is supposed to be black, the edges of the screen are lightened. Makes me think this is a shoddier product than I thought. Hence I bring the three stars down to two stars.
I originally bought one of the new style monitor and found to my dismay that all images are distorted by the rectangular image. Since I...
