3 inch speakers

Can i add them without having to buy a new crossover or anything extra besides installation. If not what would i have to buy? And also where could i buy just the 3 inch midrange speaker like in the Focal 165 KRX3 set?

Honestly, the best way to do this is sell your set, and save up for the real 3-way component set. By the time you find a 3 way crossover and the midranges, it wont be worth it...

Here i have some very old speakers and they where just 2 watts the small ones 1quot; and the big ones 3quot; inch.. and was 4 watts... anyways ...

Polk & Pioneer tweeters are small and can handle that kind of wattage. A 3 inch speaker wouldn't sound very good especially being amp'd up with 100 watts. There's just not enough woofer to do anything with.

I am looking for speakers for my 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I see that 6 1/2 inch subwoofers are avalible, and assume they can fit in my stock 6 3/4 inch speaker hole. I don't want a box in the back of my Jeep. I want the bass but need the space if that makes sense. Thanks for your response!

without some type of enclosure it won't matter what title they put on it,(woofer,subwoofer,midwoofer)
try some good coaxils like MB quart or polk audio 2 ways
or a good componet set,and add a subwoofer in the rear for the low freq.

You answered your own questions. Run down to Best Buy or order some bass blockers from Crutchfield. Doesn't really matter where, blockers are blockers.

I have 2 Alpine 6x9 inch coaxial 3 way speakers with 120 watts peak and 30 watts RMS clearly made for a car but i dont want to put them in my car. instead id like to be able to use them as speakers for my computer and connect them to a headphone jack so i can plug them into any computer. what materials and methods do i need and is this even possible?

You could do it, but you'd need an external amplifier to run the speakers. The output of the headphone jacks on most computers/sound cards usually only outputs like 1.5watts etc. And most speakers for Desktops or ones that you connect to a laptop have built in amplifiers.

The other issue at hand is that the speakers have some strong magnets. So you would need to build an enclosure that would not allow the magnets to leave the enclosure so you won't do damage to the laptop/desktop's hard drivers or any magnet media that comes into contact with the speakers(Floppy disks, hard drivers, tape drive media etc...)
