30 inch speakers

I have 2 Alpine 6x9 inch coaxial 3 way speakers with 120 watts peak and 30 watts RMS clearly made for a car but i dont want to put them in my car. instead id like to be able to use them as speakers for my computer and connect them to a headphone jack so i can plug them into any computer. what materials and methods do i need and is this even possible?

You could do it, but you'd need an external amplifier to run the speakers. The output of the headphone jacks on most computers/sound cards usually only outputs like 1.5watts etc. And most speakers for Desktops or ones that you connect to a laptop have built in amplifiers.

The other issue at hand is that the speakers have some strong magnets. So you would need to build an enclosure that would not allow the magnets to leave the enclosure so you won't do damage to the laptop/desktop's hard drivers or any magnet media that comes into contact with the speakers(Floppy disks, hard drivers, tape drive media etc...)

these speakers are MASSIVE how is that guy standing there?

hi. Im in a band and we are kinda on a budget and currently dont have the money for a real guitar amp.right now, we're working with a practice amp. i do have two 30 inch speakers with plugins in the back. so i was wondering if there was a way to convert them into an amp. thanks!

Hi! Wow, 30-inch speakers! Well, unless your practice amplifier is over 1000 watts, you will need a bigger unit to even power up 30-inch speakers. In reality, the larger speakers are more appropriate as sub-woofers, and not suitable as electric guitar amplification. Sell the speakers, and invest in a pre-owned combo amplifier rated at 80 to 100 watts minimum. Best regards, Dana

All I know for the amp is that it is 2400 watt max power and that it is bridgeable, so can it all be hooked up and sound good with some loud bass?

I have 4 speakers that are 5 1/4 and 350 watt max a pair (so that means 700 watt max for all) and I wanted to know if I could also connect them to the same amp, should I buy another amp (how many watts max?), or should I not buy an amp for the speakers?

You will need a different amp for the speakers.

The subs can only have low frequncies passed to them, if you connect the other speakers not only will you change the impedance load on the amp, but the speakers will only get the low frequencies as well.

The LPF on the amp should be on and set right, if not you will damage your subs.

You should also have the gain control set right as well. It can also cause damage to the subs if set incorrectly.

Quality doesn't happen at that price range. I'd save up and get some polk audio 4" from sonicelectronix.com for $50

okay so i have a 1994 jvc tv about 30 ~ 40 inches and a o idk a 2 or 3 (probably less) year old ihome, and i was wondering if there are speakers out there (preferably wireless) that could be hooked to both of them to provide surround sound or something near that? if there is what is it called where can you buy it and how much is it maybe leave a link ...

To get Surround Sound you need a Source that outputs it.
Your TV sound will probably be only stereo and it may or not have audio outputs.
Your DVD may output Surround or Dolby 5.1 if it has either a Coaxial or an Optical output. Also if it has HDMI. Also if you have an HD Satellite Receiver.
As far as Wireless Speakers, try Panasonic, they have for sure for Rear Speakers and they may also have for front and center. Another solution may be a Soundbar.
