What is the best way to connect speakers that use copper wire cables to a setup that requires 1/4 inch cable?

The easiest solution to this setup is to buy a cable with the correct plug at both ends to connect into your amplifier.

Buy a single cable that's twice the length you need, if possible, or two cables of the appropriate length. Cut the single cable in half (or the ends off the pair of cables) and strip the insulation back to give you the wires you need to connect to your speakers. You may need a small amount of electrical tape to keep the exposed wires separated.

How can i plug a 25 foot speaker cable (16 gauge) 1/4 inch, into an amp. ?

How can i plug a 25 foot speaker cable (16 gauge) 1/4 inch, into my amp. I have a sony amplifier. Please help! This plug looks like it would go right into an instrument but will not go into the amp. Is there an adapter perhaps?

I was told that since the amplifier will not take this plug, i have to slice the cable, if so how would this go into the amplifier?

The speakers i have btw, are yamaha cabs.

Thanks! any input will be greatly appreciated it.

You have to be more specific about what the inputs on your Sony head unit look like. If you have a red and black squares with round holes in the center, then yes, you need cut the wire. Then you split the two pieces of copper (one is negative, one positive) and then strip away the rubber coating. Standard electric wire cutters should have 16 gauge and be able to do this without harming the integrity of the copper. You then just insert the copper into each hole and whammo... you're up and rockin'.

What is the name of the cable that hooks on to the bass guitar and connects to the amplifier?

Please tell me. Are they the 1/4 inch speaker cables?

You shouldn't use speaker cables. Speaker cables are unsheilded and will cause a lot of noise. You want 1/4" sheilded cables for musical instruments. It doesn't matter whether they are for bass or electric guitars.

What is a Tripple shielded wire and do i HAVE to use it to send a 1/4 jack to regular speaker wire?

i want to make a cable that one end is a 1/4 inch jack like for a guitar or somthing and then have the other end just as regular speaker wires like you would put in the back of your stereo system and clamp down in those red and black things

(Trying to hook up my Amp cab to be used as speakers for my stereo system)

If you are making a cable to go between an amplifier and a speaker then it should not be shielded. Ordinary speaker wire would be ideal. Just make sure your amp is disconnected from your cabinet speakers before you connect them to your stereo unless you want to see fireworks.

Is My Mono Block Amp Fried?

I was cruising around last night with my system on. It wasn't on too loud and ive always used my amps at their rms. I have 4 6 inch speakers being run off a 4 channel amp and a 12 inch subwoofer being run off a mono block. We pulled over and were sitting there for a couple of minutes with just the radio playing (engine off). When I went to turn the car back on it wouldnt start, we lost all power to the car (radio, lights etc). We push started the car and took off. When we were driving the sub wasnt playing anymore and I pulled over to check and found the amp in protection mode. I didnt want to bother sorting it out there so I decided to leave it. We pulled over again and couldnt start again. So I popped the hood and found that my negative to the battery was loose so I tightened it and we were fine for the night. I got up this morning to check my amp and it was still in protection mode. I removed the RCA's and speaker cables running to the sub. It was still in protection so I unscrewed it from where it was and it was still in protection. I then swapped the power, ground and remote cables with the 4 channel amps cabled which was still working. The amp was still in protection. I dont know what is wrong with it but im assuming it has something to do with the negative on the battery not being tight enough and maybe blowing the amp? The amp doesnt have any fuses in it.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance

No fuses on the amp? That sucks but it sounds like you did fry it.
