8 inch replacement speakers

My guitar amp has 2 stock 8 inch speakers and I was wondering if putting bigger speakers would boost the sound in any way or reduce feedback.

depends on the ohms and watts it was made to handle, it would probably work but results may not be so great and if the resistance/power rating is too mismatched it could damage both the amp or the speakers
but hey, if they match up, it'd probably work fine

I'm trying to replace a pair of speakers in my original equipment, 1995 Jeep Wrangler Soundbar. The speakers have the following written on the back...

They were mounted under a perforated speaker cover labeled "Jensen", so I'm guessing this equipment is originally Jensen speakers, re-branded as Chrysler equipment.

The 4 screw holes are 4.75 inches (11.75 cm) apart diagonally and
3.25 inches apart (8.25 cm) apart on the same side.

I'm guessing these are standard 8 Ohm speakers, but a single speaker is pretty heavy for it's size, weighing 1 Lb 10 Oz.

Any suggestion on correct replacements would be appreciated. Thanks!

To easily determine the impedance, use an ohm meter connected to each terminal, whatever reading you get is the impedance of the speaker.

Every time the bass drum hits or a low bass note hits from a song the back speaker on my 03 Avalon makes a popping noise. I think the spider might be broken. I put some paper towels between the cone and the magnet and it sort of fixed it but now the bass is muffled...I think I'm going to need a new speaker. Anyone know exactly what might be wrong?

Oh and a bit of a follow up question. It's an 8 inch speaker...but I looked online for a replacement and all I found were subwoofers. Can I install a woofer in the place of a speaker in the same mount using the same wiring without consequence?

The reason that it makes a popping noise might be because it is either blown, or the reciever can't handle the total amps that the speaker is putting out.

And no, don't to that. What people call that is ghetto rigging. If you do that, then whenever the bass hits, the lights will dim, and it will drain the battery.

I have just purchased a NSM Galaxy jukebox and I took the grill off to check the speakers and basically they have all had it, literally

I have removed them and would like some kind soul to advise as to what I need .

In the lower cabinet there are two large woofer speakers, the hole in the cabinet measures 11 inches across

then there are two medium sized ones which say 8 ohms and the actual hole is 6 inches across

and then there is a smaller one at 8 ohms which is 4.5 inches across

The tweeters in the top of the cab are fine

Can anyone suggest speakers in the UK which would replace the ones taken out?

I would like to replace these asap but dont know what to go for, I dont want a subwoofer as the are for cars aint they
DO you measure the size of the woofer from side to side of the auctual woofer not the frame?
I have measured the space and its exactly 11 inches across ive looked on the auction site and aint seen any 11 inchers, guess theres no one bragging tonight

You have answered your question already,

You need 2 x 6" 8 ohm speakers (rated high enough in Watts as the AMP can supply)

and a 4.5" 8ohm speaker (again, with a similar or greater power rating in Watts)


The Sub, will also be marked for Impedance, measure the size of the steel frame diameter. - they are pretty much standard sizes.

Use the sub, they are NOT just for cars!

I need a pair of replacement subwoofers....they need to be 8 inches in diameter and have a four-hole mounting plate........if the speaker can be modifyed to fit this 4 hole mount or has multiple holes thats fine too......they have to be cheap (under 40 $ each) and they need to be shallow mount........i know 40$ is very cheap and most likely im going to get crap but i just need them to work....im not going to be blasting them

check out ebay. they have alot of good deals on subs.
