I'm planning on attaching a sony head unit and 4 speakers to a battery to power them at remote locations not near a car. This battery will strictly be for the radio. I've calculated the radio will draw 3.75 A. Would I be better off going with a deep cycle battery or could I get away with a regular car battery. I'm looking to power this radio for 6-9 hours at a time.
a deep cycle or marine battery would be better.
as they handle being drained and recharged better.
you could get away with a std battery. but draining it completely will most likely kill it, and it will not recharge.

I'm going out to buy some things for my new car and i need some advice on what would work best. Would a Amplifier Be Good to Have?
depends on your budget but i would say first get a head unit ...CD player alpine is my fave and start small with say 2 10' subs jbl or jl audio Rockford fosgate are good choices
for a amp id get at least a 800 watt pioneer or other and wires a box so your looking at about
$400- 1,000 $ good luck

PowerConnect FM Transmitter works through your vehicle's radio with easy do-it-yourself installation
if so, what kind of connection/wiring would be needed...Considering buying for Christmas gift. ..Car has no CD player...only cassette player and radio
This is simple. All you need is an FM transmitter (your car requires two things: an FM radio and a cigarette lighter socket). It's a simple one piece, and won't tangle like the car kits (that use cassettes) or be a permanent fixture on your dash. It’s a simple plug and go. What you do is you plug in the Fm transmitter into the socket, and there's a wire attached to the transmitter that you plug into the headphone jack of your Ipod Shuffle. Program your own (clear) station on the fm transmitter, and then turn on your radio so that the frequencies are the same. Avoid picking a frequency that’s close to another radio station to get the best/clearest sound quality.
By the way you can buy ANY fm transmitter, don't get fooled into buying one with packaging that say's its exclusive to Apple iPods. You want a universal one.
You can purchase an FM transmitter at Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Circuit City etc it's with the ipod/mp3 accessories.

My radio has gone on the blitz . The rear speaker don't work anymore and the front 2 sound like they are cracked. No treble or bass available. Almost sounds like the old gramaphones of the 1930's. The horn also went dead at the same time this happened. Suggestions on finding the problem please. trying to avoid going to an auto electrionics shop--150 bucks to find the solution
Speakers that come with cars are fairly simple. Depending on the model and year of your car, you could be using plain paper/foam speakers. What kind of car do you have?
One way to tell for sure if the speaker is blown, is to use your Fade and Balance. This allows you to select if you want the music coming from front back, left or right. Adjust these so you can hear each speaker clearly and if you hear the static, crackle, the speaker is probably blown. The only way to really fix this is to replace the speakers themselves.
www.crutchfield.com has a HUGE selection and fair prices. They also send out all products with an installation sheet. It is a very simple process, you select your vehicle, model, etc. and then select if you want a head unit, speakers, subs, etc. It automatically searched for the components that fit your car, and also tell you how to install them. Its a great site! Speakers are very easy, you simply remove the door panel which is something even a Novice can accomplish with ease, take off the screws holding the speaker, and pull off the connectors in back. One thing is to be sure they work before putting it all back together, test the new speakers out and save yourself possible extra labor time.
I am wondering how i can hook up computer speakers into my car radio. I have a outlit plug already that plugs into my car so that i can power my speakers. But i was wanting to hook up my speakers into my car radio. (such as having the out put of the radio going to my computer speakers.) i also have a serious satalite radio if that helps.
my car modle is 2001 honda odyssy with stock stereo.
thank you for the help
like is their a way i could plug it in as if it were a head phone through a head phone jack in the serious?
Theres speaker wire coming out of the back, you will have to strip it and splice it into your speaker wires
