Car speakers?

If im replacing my stock speakers in my car with decent ones (same dimensions) would i need to replace the wiring? /thicker wire?

No, most factory wire will carry the power needed to replacement speakers. You can get wiring harness adapters to hook up most aftermarket speakers so you don't have to cut the factory harness.

Can car speakers reduce in quality over time?

I have Boston Acoustic Pro Rally series speakers in my car, front and back. I have had them for 5-6 years and they have taken lots of loud music, rap and rock, over the years. I have had an amp hooked up to them the whole time also. I am getting a new car and am wondering if I should splurge and buy new speakers or just transfer them from my old car to my new car. They still sound very very good to me but that could be because I am so use to them. Does anyone know if speakers reduce quality over time?? do amps?

yes over a long period of time, but those bostons are great speakers and and 5 years really is not that long. 10 yes 5 na... but also the new series bostons will likely sound better than the old ones based on improovements over the last 5-6 years. i certainly would not replace unless you are willing to spend the money to get something very comparable in todays market... all that said though, you said your happy with them, so i say keep um, why waiste the money..? and as far as the amp goes, man amps can last for 20 years, and they as far as i know never degrade in sound quality... they eigther work or they dont work.

What are the best car speakers to install in your car?

About a month ago I had 2 rear eclipse speakers installed in my car, and about 2 days ago they blew out. I have 2 polk audio speakers in the front, and they are starting to go bad, but I got those like 8 months ago. Does anyone know if there are any really high quality speakers out there that wont blow out easily? Does it matter what kind of cd player you have, cause I have an eclipse player. Does it matter if you have an amp or not?

I would go with any of the Infinaty Kappas. I just put 2 pairs in my Element with a Rockford Fosgate Amp to power them and they ROCK!!!!!

How much would aftermarket car speakers improve my music?

I have a head unit for my car and stock speakers. If I were to replace my stock speakers (which actually sound pretty damn good - 2006 Lancer) with some kickers would it make a huge difference or just mediocre? Also, with the new speakers probably requiring more power, would I need to invest in a amp? Or would I be fine without one? Thanks.

I've gota 99 lancer so im gessin the quality of stock speakers will b similar. I was the same as u, not sure if after market would make much difference but i recently finished putting in my new speakers and it improved it beyond sight. Thing is, i only got cheap arse speakers to start off with to get evrything right and evn this crappy set made alot of improvement. as for the amp issue, you can use your headunit but beware that most head units display the max power rating eg. 50x4 is 50 watts per channel MAX. not RMS. if you get speaker to suit this then you should be fine. If you want to go further than an amp is a must have, aslong as its powerful enuf to suit ur speakers and vice versa. If the head unit isnt powerful enuf you will get alot of distortion at the higher volumes. if you don't want to crank it alot then you should be fine.
but i agree with the steps approach, get the speakers n connect them to the head unit, if you want better, then get an amp.
