dual 15 inch speakers

im looking to buy a pair of house speakers that are 1200 watts peak each 18 inch subs 3 way cabinets...would these be louder bass wise than a pair of dual 12 or 15 inch tower speakers rated at same wattage...another words..which one will deliver more bass? four 15's or two 18's also would a 1500 watt max,750 watt rms be a good receiver/amp to push the 18's rated at 1200 watt,600 watt rms? thankyou

In theory the larger surface area combo will 'give more bass', BUT there are many considerations.

First, big spekaers are good for low bass frequencies, but not so good for higher bass, so big is not necessarily best. Audiophiles will often opt for a 10" or 12" sub over a 15" because of 'better' sound for that reason.

Second, the excursion on the speaker cone (how far in and out it can move) along with the cone and surround materials can make a huge difference.

Third, the watt rating of speakers is their capacity not their requirement. That is determined by the speaker efficiency .. and varies widely.

Fourth, the type and size of bass speakers should take into account the type of use. For example you want big subs for organ music, but may be better with smaller versions for more delicate music (e.g. vocal, jazz, piano).

Fifth, your question is somewhat confusing since you talk about subs with 3 way cabinets and tower speakers. Which are you considering subwoofers or full range tower speakers? They aren't the same.

Sixth, bass is problematic in rooms so plan on more than one subwoofer and/or buying/building bass traps to eliminate resonances and inequalities.

Finally, you presumably want a balanced sound, so unless you have a huge room and/or want low bass from organ music at realistic levels I doubt you need 18" or even 15" woofers.

My suggestion is to look at an integrated speaker setup based on room size, music/movie style and stop focusing on the bass alone.

Using one Dual 18" Sub will not overpower the 15" if it is used right. Why would you want one dual rather than two Single ones. That Dual is very heavy. 132 lbs vs 71 for the SW118V. Is this for a permanent setup? If you are looking at the JBL's why not look at the JBL subs? I have a setup with two JBL JRX115's and Two JBL JRX118S's. With a crossover, it sounds great. Two subs will give you the option of keeping everything stereo vs mono. I use a QSC Rmx2450 for each pair. The JBL Subs are 4 ohm and the 115's are 8 ohm. Yamaha's SW218V is 4 ohm and the SW118V is 8 ohm. At 8 ohms you are going to spend more money on an amp to get the power to push them. The SW218V is 2400w peak! Try finding an amp with 3600w at 4ohm bridged and look at the price. The JBL JRX118S subs are 4 ohm. In my opinion all subs should be 4ohm per speaker. You would have to do the math to see what sub with what amp will give you the best deal. When I bought the Jxr118S subs I listened to the Yamaha's and there was no comparison at the louder setting. The JBL's won hands down. QSC recommends 1 1/2 the watts that the speaker's rating is. Example, a 500w speaker should have a 750w amp driving it. This is because you don't want to run your amp at full power. You get a cleaner sound if is not cranked all the way up. By the way why the flying JRX's? I am thinking this is for a Club/Bar. The JRX115i is for hanging from above.

For $700, you can get a computer that is much much MUCH better. The specs in that computer should end up costing you about $400 max. I actually think that same laptop is $400 on Best Buy's website, and if not it's a much better model.

In short, it's not a good deal. For $700 you can find a much better laptop.

Wire the subs in this configuration: Put the two voice coils on each sub in series and then wire the 2 subs in parallel to present a 2ohm load to the amp.( Like this http://mobile.jlaudio.com/graphics/Suppo rt/Tutorials/wiring_images/DVC_Series_2. gif) That amp will power them just not at their full potential. That setup should be good unless u really want to poud out the bass hard enough to make your ears bleed other wise you should be good. Also the cap is wired the postive wire in between the sub. Like this PowerWire -- Cap Pos Terminal -- AMP Ground at chassis/body ---- Cap Same Ground point --- AMP You should use 0/1 GA power wire for this install and no less than 8 Gauge speaker wire. Hi i have 4 JBL EON G2 now and I need 2 powered bass bins i have used the JBL SF22sp many times indoors and out and they work great .
I cant locate them in Jamaica so i need help finding them at a good price .i also have Sound system equipement for sale 15'' speakers and 12' all in boxes (skoop) and others.
please help me find the JBL SF22sp
