Car Speakers Answers

The left side (driver's side) of my car stereo speakers don't work, what do I do to fix this problem?

I drive a 2003 Nissan Sentra SE-R and as of recently the driver's side speakers, front and back, have stopped working. I have the basic sound package not the Rockford Fosgate package which is also available for my model of car. The right side speakers work fine and the factory eight inch sub in the rear works fine as well. I doubt I have blown the speakers, it just doesn't make sense that only the left side would have blown and not the right side. I have checked the direct wire connections with the left speaker in the back and that is connected correctly. I think it might be a bad hookup with the CD player but i do not know how to unhook the player from the dash to find out. Can anyone give me any advice or help with this?

Check the speaker wiring again and try to see if the insulation of the wire is in good condition, if is melted or broken anywhere it could be grounding thus avoiding them to play music.
If the wires are ok then it should be the amplifier or the cd deck. Should remove the system and test it in a table to isolate the problem.

8 Inch Speaker Box Build

This is a video of a box I built out of home materials for a 8 inch subwoofer. Please check for the updated video with it finished.

What's the best way I can hook up my speakers?

My neighbor gave me 2 eight inch subs and I want to know whats the best way to hook these up.
Pioneer 50wx4, no amp, MTX 8" in a box.

well.... first off u gave us very little information... we need to know what speakers- make model- uve got, what amp -make model- uve got, what kind of car what kind of box, what kind of stereo in ur car stock or aftermarket if aftermarket what kind etc.

*EDIT*
alright, you cannot run the sub without an amplifier, so seeing as how you're nto going to be running high quality high power subs, go to your local electronics store, best buy, circuit city, etc. pick up either a 2 channel amp with low/mid/high pass filters, or a class D amp. Yo're going to want something with about 300-500 RMS power do not look at "peak power" look at "RMS" power. you will then need to buy one of the amp installation kits ( about 70 bucks ) that come with the power cable that you have to run from your battery to ur trunk, the ground cable which u have to run from ur amp to a metal part in ur trunk, it will also come with an RCA and a remote cable, both of which come off of your deck and go to your amp. then you will need heavier guage speaker wire to go from ur amp to ur subs. so this is what i suggest u do, ur neighbor obviously knows more about this than you, i would suggest enlisting his help in the installation process so u dont fry anything, oh... and fair warning, if u like ur music loud- ur gas mileage will drop (u use your engine as a generator) good luck, happy wiring, and dont drill holes through anything with electrical and or gas lines anywhere near it

Should I amp my Kenwood Excelon KFC -170 door speakers?

I have 2 Kenwood Excelon KFC-170's running off of a Pioneer DEH-P6800MP head unit that puts out 22 watts RMS/50 peak x 4 channels. The speakers can handle 2-40 watts RMS (200 watts peak power) with a frequency response of 35-25,000 Hz.

I've had bad experiences with car audio before and don't know too much. I just want everything to sound the best it can. Should I get a low powered amp for the front speakers and if so how powerful? Would I blow them if I did?

Please lend advice. I have 2 JL Vr's in the rear deck and they're powered by a 2x200 channel amp that sounds great, plus an eight inch Bazooka tube in the trunk for just a little bit more bass. The fronts just sound like they're missing something. Could also be the difference between the Kenwoods and the JL XR's that I blew.

What should I do? Thanks.

Your Kenwood's are never going to sound nearly as good as your JL's. But yes, you should definitely amplify them. You say that you have a 2x200 pushing a single set of VR's? Well, the VR's don't have anywhere near that kind of power handling(60watts RMS) so you must be using one of those crappy knock off brands like Audiobahn, Boss, Rockwood, Pyramid or something like that(these brands always advertise big power that they couldn't provide if they were struck by lightening). Any of that junk seriously puts the rest of your equipment at risk. My advice to you is to buy a JL 300/4. This is a 75watt X 4 channel amp. I have been using that very amp in 3 different cars since 2001 and I've never had any trouble at all. This way you can stick to using one amp instead of adding another, and JL amps always produce more power than they are rated to give so just turn the gain down to about half way on the Kenwoods and they'll sound MUCH better than they do now. Enjoy.

Can I hook up speakers straight to my TV?

I have an 48 inch TV that's about eight years old. I have a couple tall speakers that were hooked up to it through a stereo at my old apartment, but I moved and don't have the stereo. Is there a way to hook up the speakers straight to the back of the TV? If so, what type of wires do I need. I'm not the brightest when it comes to this kind of stuff.

I'm afraid you can't just hook them up right into your tv. You would have to have a receiver to hook them up to and then hook up the receiver to the tv. You may be able to find a cheap receiver on ebay. Best of Luck to you in this new year!

i brought a 7 Inch TFT LCD for my car and it said hook the green wire to the parking brake where would the?

parking brake wire be at i have a 1986 oldsmobile ninety-eight and i brought a dvd player but it dont have any wires to connect to the speakers would i need a amp to hook up the speakers then.

It's a big mystery isn't it. Perhaps the instruction manual could help rather then asking for information that's impossible to give based on the vague question you asked.

In October 2001, Apple launched iPod, a brand of portable Media player. The iPod is perhaps one of the best known and loved gadgets of this decade. Currently, the line up consists of hard drive based flagship iPod classic, iPod touch, iPod nano and the low end screen less iPod shuffle. iPod can also serve as an external data storage device. We can say that iPod has changed the way people think about music on the move.

The B&W Zeppelin is oblong in shape and houses two woofers, two tweeters and a subwoofer behind its soft cloth non removable grille. The speaker has a loud sound with well defined bass. The egg shaped remote has a silver rear panel with a rubber plug that hides the non rechargeable battery. The controls are limited to track forward and backward buttons, play/pause, volume up and down, power, and a toggle button that pauses the iPod and switches to the aux input and vice versa.
