quality car speakers

just purchased a 91 Chevy Beretta, I have done good maintenence to it, now all I need are good speakers. I have a snatch out cd player in it, but the speakers are very low and monotone, the guy who sold me the car said I should get new speakers back there. So I am looking for speakers between the price range of $60-$90 dollars, nothing with too much heavy bass but good sound quality bass and treble and something that will play loud enough for people to hear outside the car in the summer. What brand of speakers should I look for? how many watts? power? and what size? and where can I purchase them from? and how should I go about installing the speakers?

go to www.crutchfield.com look at boston acoustics and mb quart they are the top of the line for car audio. these speaker have a high sensitivity rating which means they will play louder with less power, instaliing speakers is really easy you should have no trouble.

I have heard good things about diamond audio but they do not have the size I need, I need 6.5 & 4x6. Ive also heard people praising polk audio, And i have not heard anything bad about boston acoustics.I listen to every music you can think of so i need some speakers to sound good with just about all music. I will be pushing them with a 200 watt amp. Im just basically looking or a nice, crisp quality speaker. If you guys can help me out I will appreciate it,thanks

It depends on whether you look at entry level range or at top-end level.

E.g. JBL entry level is much better than Pioneer/kenwood/JVC in my opinion.

My favourite for decent (crisp quality) speakers at reasonable price has to be JBL GT-series component sets.

Other people will have different opinions.

Top-end, I think DLS/Infinity/MB Quartz.

I have Boston Acoustic Pro Rally series speakers in my car, front and back. I have had them for 5-6 years and they have taken lots of loud music, rap and rock, over the years. I have had an amp hooked up to them the whole time also. I am getting a new car and am wondering if I should splurge and buy new speakers or just transfer them from my old car to my new car. They still sound very very good to me but that could be because I am so use to them. Does anyone know if speakers reduce quality over time?? do amps?

yes over a long period of time, but those bostons are great speakers and and 5 years really is not that long. 10 yes 5 na... but also the new series bostons will likely sound better than the old ones based on improovements over the last 5-6 years. i certainly would not replace unless you are willing to spend the money to get something very comparable in todays market... all that said though, you said your happy with them, so i say keep um, why waiste the money..? and as far as the amp goes, man amps can last for 20 years, and they as far as i know never degrade in sound quality... they eigther work or they dont work.

shop around for a good deal on a quality brand of speakers
because what you pay for is what you get with car audio.
don't go to wal-mart all they carry is junk. as far as quality and
price range goes here is a short list.
good quality-average price range try, sony, pioneer, jensen,
to name a few. for higher sound quality and middle price try
jvc, cerwin-vega,mtx, eclipse,inifinity,polk audio, rockford-fosgate
to start. these brands listed offer a wide price range from average
to expensive with a wide model range. if you don't know any one
who knows how to install speakers properly get it done proffesonialy or you will risk frying your new speakers.

I am looking to get some high quality 6x8 speakers for my car. I want speakers that have crisp, clear sound and a decent amount of bass. I was thinking about getting a shallow mount sub but they tend to get to be too much at times, I'd rather have really nice speakers.

Can anyone show me some that fit my description?
