Im an out doors kinda guy, off roading, fishing, hunting looking for ghost towns in the middle of no where, you get the point. However i notice my gps sucks at this or is it me. I have a tomtom and it doesn't seem to do great with coordinates off road? Am i right or i just not know how to use it correctly? Do i need to invest in a different gps like a eTrex or something?
i beleive and this is just from experience GARMIN are the best!!!. my friend had a tom tom and she hated it.
if you browse the site youll see the different varieties they offer, types of gps, on the go, trail...etc.
you will love it! they are awesome.

my husband leads canoe trips and goes on crazy kayaking and canoing adventures and was talking about this portable gps system that also gave real time weather reports etc from anywhere, even when he's in the middle of nowhere with no phone etc. i am not sure where to find this or where to even begin looking for it! does anyone know what he may have been thinking of or where i could find one for xmas?
Sounds like a Rhino GPS, you can try searching that on google or yahoo. Also, www.backpacker.com and www.backcountry.com has great reviews. If you were to buy one online I`d get it from Backcountry.com since they have a no questions asked return policy, so if that waterproof gps takes a little too much abuse and ends up in the drink without being sealed you can return it no questions asked for a new one or for a refund.
Anyone here knows how it is used/worked, please educate me I need it coz we will be going to the Philippine jungle, with a map and a compass(or probably we won't bring any compass or maps, coz my crazy buddies wants "Adventure" so no GPS either) and don't exactly have any idea in what is waiting for us there
Sorry, but the millitary does use GPS... well, there is always a map and compass, say you are going hiking/camping. first, plan out your route on the map and let people know where you're going if you get lost. Then, you could use the sun and the stars(look it up) for direction. If you know the area you're going to has an ocean south of it, you know where to go to get out of the jungle. look for gear online you might need.
be safe!

The following database is not 'real-time' per se but is used as a method of tracking ships. It is common practice for ships to file a weather report so that others may gain insight from this info. As part of the information, the ships position is plotted and displayed here. While there are other ships from the Royal Caribbean lines are displayed, 'The Adventure of the Seas' has not come up.

Plus what did the US taught you in how to "Evade" combatants, in a jungle like terrain??? Y'know since we can't bring weapons and there are news that rebels are all over the region(and my friends and cousin thinks its more "Exciting"
You have crossed the line between adventure and irresponsibility.
Take a map, compass, AND GPS.
As far as the rebels, you will have no chance fighting them... I suggest you make doggone sure you don't look like a combatant, make doggone sure you don't see anything you're not supposed to, make doggone sure you don't resist or run if they come to check you out, and make doggone sure you don't carry lots of stuff that they might want. Military-style evasion usually requires training, and making yourself look like a combatant. AND FOR GOD'S SAKE, DON'T LET THEM KNOW YOU'RE AMERICAN! (assuming you are)
Plot a course beforehand. Register with the local authorities. Make sure plenty of people know where you will be going, and when you should be back. That way, if something happens, people will come looking for you.
That said, this doesn't sound like a good idea. I'll probably read your sob-story in the newspaper in a couple of weeks about how the rebels beat you, raped you, and stole from you.
