I was thinking about purchasing the Garmin Streetpilot c340 because of the great reviews for it and the closely updated maps, however I found out that the website has discontinued the product. It made me unsure of whether or not I wanted to purchase it. Is there another closely updated GPS automotive device that is reasonably priced that you would recommend?
Check out the Nuvi series Garmin GPS. It looks as though they use the same UI as the c300 series Streetpilots, and are very capable devices.

The company supplies local maps, but my thought is that a reliable GPS unit would be able to take me directly to where the vehicle needs to be picked up, and where it needs to go
without having to keep reading a map.
The best price for a GPS will be 199.99 retail, then you will get an off brand name ex. Mios . If you want a better value and higher quality, go with a brand name like Magellan or Garmin they have been in the business a long time, but their systems will run 249.99-299.99 and up.
I bought an older Magellan from buy.com for 149.99 and its great. I used to have a Mios and it was missing dozens of streets and it was just a Piece'O crap. My recommendation is shell out the few extra bucks for a Magellan/Garmin

I don't need anything fancy. I just need something that is reliable, easily understandable while driving, and that doesn't lose signal very often.
What brand/model is the cheapest I should go for?
If you have a laptop, check out MICROSOFT Street & Trips with GPS locater. For under $100.00, can't be beat.
