Will the car charger for my gps work in a UK car?

I bought the UK map for my gps (TomTom) but I wanted to make sure my car charger will work in England as well.
I'm already nervous about driving on the other side of the road and my gps will be my peace of mind! I need to know it works!

I need help with my Navigon 2100 GPS Car charger!!!?

My car charger for my gps will not charge my gps. Let me start off by saying, I've had this gps for at least 9 months. My problem is when I plug it in my car, it doesn't charger it but the green light on the charger is lit. I don't know if it's because I use this same charger to charge my T-Mobile Dash or because I left it charge for hours while I drove from DC to South Carolina just recently. Anyways I need to know, Is there a way I can fix this or do I have to buy myself a new charger?


Leaving the charger in while on an extended trip should not hurt anything. If it worked before and just stopped working, you can try a different charger. Unfortunately it sounds like something might be wrong with the connector on the GPS unit where you plug into it.

Hopefully it is something a new charger fixes, but it seems doubtful. :(

If a new charger does not fix it though, I would get in touch with the manufacture to see if there is any warranty coverage for that as well seeing as you have only had it for 9 months. They have most likely dealt with this issue before.

You have to check the specs or documentationon your car charger to see if it adheres to the USB power specifications as described at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB#Power
If your charger was designed/came with a specific USB device, the manufacturer may have cut costs by providing a fixed amount of power.

Can i use the 12 volt usb charger that came with my GPS to charge my new LG enV cell phone in the car?

The connection on the phone is the same as the connection on the Tom-Tom GPS. If the same cord can be used on the phone, I won't have to spend extra bucks for a car charger.

My gps car charger broke down and I can not find a similar charger with the same spec. Can I use a car charger for other device with the similar spec?


You could but the voltage rating of the charger has to be identical, the current rating has to be the same or greater than on your OEM charger and the mating connector has to be the same.
