Magellan Car GPS Question?

Is there any possible way to turn my brand new Magellan gps 1470 into a tv screen? I mean id still use the gps but is there a way i can hook my ipod touch or something up to it and make it play videos and such?

Not that would be practical.

The screen isn't a video screen, but a digital screen than connects directly to the graphics processor of the GPS.

What might be easier is to mod the OS of the GPS to run 3rd party apps, including a media player.

Is it ok to leave my Magellan GPS in my car all the time?

even at extreme temperatures like when it's 4 below out, and up to 120 degrees Fahrenheit in the car? because i've heard that rechargeable batteries aren't supposed to be in extreme temperatures. it doesn't say anything about it in the owners manual. thanks for any help.

It will be fine, until someone steals it. I don't leave mine in the car.

I have a Magellan GPS in my car. Will extreme hot or cold temperatures affect it's functioning?

I don't remember the user manual saying anything about temperature precaution. Just wanted to make sure it'll be ok in the glove box for the winter. Temperatures here generally go as low as -2 degrees below 0 and high as 100 degrees F.

Thanks!

I have seen many GPS units that have numbers in their manuals about their operation in different temperatures. They are usually related to the units turn on time when you plug it in your car. When the temperature is too high or too low the unit will take longer to get a connection.

All electronics are going to be effected by extreme temperatures. They may just slow the unit or make the display strange but they can also damage the unit.

As long as your unit is not constantly in these temperatures then you should be fine. You may just notice it takes your unit longer to connect to the satellites.

how do i mount the magellan gps in the car?

fabricate some brackets and a suction cup to the windshield or buy the kit.
