car gps navigation maps

The safest place is from the GPS manufacturers website, though I had awesome luck with something I think might have been a little shady.

I was going to France and wanted to bring my own GPS instead of renting one. My manufacturer's US website only had US maps, but their European site listed a Western Europe map for over $100!.

So I took my chances, went on eBay and found someone selling one for $30 (including shipping). I ended up with the original DVD (in my casse, I load maps onto a storage card on the device) and it worked like a charm.

I currently use the big bulky tomtom go 300 and it always seems to loose connection and last time I dealt with tomtom customer service they didn't give me customer service.... instead I got grief and had to end up buying a new sd card and maps.

I want to go for the right nav software for the nokia n95. So far I know of co pilot and mobile navigator 6. Are there any other which are free to run like tomtom? I think the nokia n95 runs on symbian or something .. not too sure.

Yes, N95 is Symbian OS 9.1, I have Tom Tom 6 with maps for smartphone on my N73, I got the software for free lol...
If you don't like Tom Tom, then you should use Route 66, thats pretty good as well, but I think you should use an external GPS receiver instead of the built-in GPS in N95, b/c I've heard that the built-in GPS is only good for the Nokia smart2go software that they have on their website for N95...
