What should I look for when choosing a car navigation system (GPS) / What brands or models are good?

I am looking into buying a car navigation system (GPS) but am totally clueless as to what features to look for, as well as what brands/models/prices are "good". Any advice? Any reputable websites or stores that might also be able to help?

And why would you say it's the best?

Here is my opinion after reviewing several GPS devices. I think Garmin products are the best and I will list a few reasons why.

I think you need to first figure out what your needs are in a GPS device and the purpose of having one. Then what specific features are you looking for, such as bluetooth, real time traffic, weather, mp3 songs. Then what price range are you looking for?

After all of this I can tell you my experience.. I choose the Garmin Street Pilot C330. I paid 399.00 and here are my reasons:
1) Simple functions and easy to use.
2) Able to mount it on the window.
3) Price range 400-500
4) Reliability
5) I did not want Bluetooth, weather, real time traffic, or other extras.
6) Battery life strong

Some drawbacks to the device:
1) Locations not always accurate need to update maps
2) Viewing screen against the sunlight can be difficult to read
3) Bulky
4) It can take a few minutes to load the calculation to the destination. I wish it loaded much faster.

Overall, I am very satisfied with my GPS. I can truly say that it has helped out alot and reduced time. I think GPS prices have dropped significantly and now I would get the Garmin Nuvi 350 or 660 since it has everything I have but more... I would read customer reviews but stick with Garmin!

Here is a website that might be helpful:

PS: I would also go to CNET reviews , which are good too!

What is the best car gps navigation system with traffic capabilities under $350?

I got a tom tom but I can't use the traffic part since my phone isn't supported??? whatever. But I'm trying to find a good one thats 4" or larger with good poi's, affordable traffic service, and easy to read screen. any help?? thanks :o)

How about Garmin StreetPilot c550? It is very easy to use right out of the Box. You can spend a fortune on these things and get all these options that you will never use. The screens are easy to navigate and the voice is not so loud to become annoyingwhen giving dircection. And it is on sale now, a decent deal for it is only $350 instead of $500.

Which is a better gps car navigation system?

A SONY NV-U94T PORTABLE 4.8
or
A Pioneer AVIC-F500BT 5.8" Navigation
or if you know of any other better ones...please help.

i need a new gps for my car, and dont know what choice to get. All i care about is the quality of which is better, and the picture image also.

Garmin is a best gps for car, Garmin has a simple controls - simply touch the color screen to enter a destination, has a turn-by-turn voice directions, 2-D or 3-D maps and more feature.

I suggestion a Garmin nuvi model is a 255W, 760.

255W: has text-to-speech, you get turn by turn spoken directions with the real names of streets (e.g. "turn left in 50 feet at Nebraska Way", rather than merely "turn left in 50 feet"), 4.3-Inch diagonal touch screen color display, etc.

760 : has text-to-speech, 4.3-Inch diagonal touch screen color display, bluetooth, etc.
