I'm looking to buy a good priced GPS system that will list all the attractions (like museums, beaches, things like Mount Rushmore, ect.). Is there one around like that in the price range of $350 and from Garmin? If not, is there one like that from Tom Tom or another brand?
I would say a great price for a Garmin GPS unit was available at Costco for $349, and it was for the Nuvi 760 which is an excellent unit with 6M points of interest and a 4.3" display along with Text to Speech turn by turn directions.
I would shop around and see what is available, currently, the top unit for Garmin is the Nuvi 880 with the VR feature. The Magellan Maestro 4250 is probably an excellent value at also $349 with AAA tourbook that will offer you ratings for restaurants etc. TomTom 730 at $399 also offer map share and tons of POI's. I would go to a near by GPS retail store and look over the units. If you are in San Jose are, try Auto Nav 2000 Plus, Inc.
We took the Garmin Nuvi 265WT GPS from take off to cruising altitude and speed in a Cessna 750. The tracking worked great and we saw the unit go ...
I want to download games and other extras onto my Garmin GPS system but sadly i don't know how
It depends on what unit you have. Feel free to call me at EdgeGPS 877-477-6281.
When i buy my garmin gps system what should i expect? when i pull it out of the box will it be ready to use? or will i have to do something more? do i have to pay for it over and over, or do i pay for it just once upfront? i am buying from amazon.com?
No Monthly fees
Most likely you can hook it up to the internet to get the most up to date maps, but how up to date the map writing is still in question.
I do not know how long free updates would last.
If you wanted someting special like detailed mpas of good fishing spots on lakes, that would be a seperate purchase

You can check with Garmin about your repair options, but depending on what model it is, it's likely that replacing it will be as cheap (or cheaper) than repairing it.
I have the G1 from t mobile it has navigaton.. do you think I should still get a navigaton system since I will be traveling a lot ..or is the stuff on my cell and google navi just as good?
Fundamentally, they would use similar algorithms to figure routes, and very similar maps.
That said, the standalone GPS probably has a better chipset, yes a bigger screen (which you shouldn't be looking at when driving anyways), and will work where you can get a GPS signal, and is a one time cost to use. The downsides are you have to pay quite a bit for map updates. POI updates may be free, but they have to be available anyways.
With a mobile phone GPS, the software and maps come from the network , so can be refined and kept current rather quickly. You have to pay a monthly fee though, but it may be marginal compared to the outlay for a standalone GPS Nav and its updates. It is also handy to have one device.
You can also have interactive nav applications, ans well as get info on POIs immediately on the one device.
Given the choice, I'd likely prefer a mobile sat-nav system.
Buy Cheap GPS
Both flavors of Garmin-Asus nuvifone coming to ATamp;T?
Sure, Garmin may sign a deal with AT&T. However, what are the other options? Nobody. T-Mobile's not picking up this phone. They tend to shy away from 1) GPS-enabled phones in general 2) High price-tier phones. The phone has a GSM antenna, so that only leaves AT&T.
So, either Garmin goes through AT&T or nobody. Trying to sell this phone unlocked is not out of the realm of possibility either. Total flop either way.
The big question: Will AT&T see fit to charge $9.95 a month (above and beyond the unlimited data plan) to use the Garmin Navigation? That's what they charge to use their fairly crappy AT&T Navigator powered by TeleNav. Since it is a quality Nav, maybe AT&T will try to get $24.95 or even $39.95 per month to access the navigation feature in this phone. Garmin Nuviphone on AT&T = FAIL.
