I had City Navigator 7 loaded onto my Garmin Quest, I then loaded a MalSing map for singapore. When I removed MalSing, my GPS now only shows a basic map, and my personal waypoints, not the street detail. How do I get my GPS to showthe map detail again?
I have done this and it still doesn't show street detail on the newly loaded map. Do I have to unlock these maps every time?
On every upload, Mapsource erases the maps currently in the unit so it can replace them with the maps you're uploading.
Just use Mapsource to upload your City Nav maps again for the area you care about.
This is my Garmin Quest GPS unit that is for sale on eBay. Video uploaded to demonstrate that the unit is functioning correctley.
Just wonder if I need to update my map software every so often? If so, which software should I purchase that will compatible to Garmin Quest?
I do have a Garmin Quest gps, I soppose you do have Mapsorce installed on your computer no ?
Well while on Map Source go to Help (top right) in the drop down menue you find "Check for software updates" if you get the message --there are no software updates currently available for map source-- then it is updated.
You'd be better off asking Garmin tech support, however that feature may be written in the Garmins made especially for HD version of gps. I did read somewhere that was a feature of the garmins made for the HD's. "ride safe"

The Nuvi 200 has maps of the lower 48 states pre-loaded, but not Canada or Alaska. So, what happens if you travel to Canada? Does it show you driving on a completely blank screen, or does it at least have a minimal basemap?
I used to have a Garmin Quest, which requires the user to load all the maps manually. But even before you load any maps, it will still function with a rudimentary basemap that's built-in. Is this similar to what would happen with the Garmin 200 while in Canada?
I'm also curious if you can add Canadian maps to the unit through a separate map purchase after buying the unit itself, if it turns out later that you need the Canada mapping.
Thanks!
The unit that they sell at digitaldealz.net has a great price and covers United States, Hawaii and Puerto Rico, but if you do roam into Canada, you would need to purchase SD data card, City Navigator Canada NT and/or MapSource MetroGuide Canada.
According to Garmin's website: nüvi 200 comes preloaded with City Navigator® NT map data for the continental U.S., Hawaii and Puerto Rico (no Alaska or Canada detail) it appears that it would have some basemaps of Canada, but nothing in detail.
