I own a Garmin Street pilot GPS for my car?

If my GPS is stolen is there a way it can be tracked?


No, because it doesn't transmit, only receives. It has no way of transmitting its position to something that could relay its location to the owner. Your best bet is to copy down the serial number and etch it in somewhere on the unit itself and hope that it ends up in a pawn shop that will check the database if it gets stolen. I had one stolen out of my car (where they did damage to the car which cost 5x as much to fix than the GPS was worth) and I had the serial number written down. 5 years later I still haven't got it back and I probably never will. Hide it real good! There are some not nice people out there...

GPS: Difference/s between the Garmin Street Pilot and the Nuvi models?

Looking to buy my Mom (61 yrs old) a GPS setup for her car/s. I am leaning towards the Garmin Brand but after using their comparison feature, I can't really see what the difference is between the Nuvi models and the Street Pilot Models.

FWIW, I am looking at the StreetPilot® c550, the nüvi® 660 and the nüvi® 350.

Any help here would be greatly appreciated. I have searched through numerous posts here, but didn't find anything on this particular subject.

    I’m traveling to Germany in a few days and wanted to use my Garmin StreetPilot c550 to help me navigate the streets of Berlin. I got a used 2008 European Maps SD card off of Amazon for a few bucks and figured why don’t I try getting the maps onto my Garmin GPS. But somehow instructions on how to do this differ greatly online and the Garmin website seemed to have some major issues the day I was trying all of this out. Some sites suggested I needed some MapSource software while others said I needed the Garmin Map Updater…long story short, after some playing around, here is what I found:

    The Garmin folder has a bunch of files and subfolders in it containing what I can only assume to be the Garmin OS and maps, while the MP3 folder contains (drumroll) some MP3’s.
