When the unit is not plugged in the car, it is using some internal battery that is limited. I'd like to know if that battery can be charged, and if it is being charged while the unit is plugged in. I am using the unit inside my house to introduce favorite places, etc. and the battery signal went from 2 bars down to 1, so I want to know if there is any way it can be charged. Thanks.
If you are losing battery with charger connected while using the unit then unit is power rate is higher than charge rate. It is common to see two charge time on spec (in operation and non-operation). Just turn off the unit and let it charge first. Even though your battery is drained, as long as you have power cable connected, unit will operate normal. Also, it can slow down the charge time by having power connected to cradle due to voltage drop within the cradle.

I been beating my brains with this one, I like some features on the Lowrance, but I do not like the fact they have out dated maps and it sometimes freezes. The C330 has excellent reveiws, but it seems simplistic. Does anyone have any experiences with these units???The TomTom has some mapping problems I hear. I want something within the $250-350 range. Thank you!
Garmin is a more reputable brand I would go with it.

Any ideas on which I should get? Thanks.
Well, iv'e used the Mio c310x for over a year now. If the c320 is any indication from that, it should be a nice buy for the price. My c310x isn't 100% accurate, doesn't say actual street names (tho it does have voice guidance), and sometimes directs you the long way around to get to a destination, but it DOES get me there, so I have that to back me up concerning Mio's work.
On the one hand, Cnet's reviews as well as its users reviews rank the Garmin higher, and you're also able to get it cheaper.
On the otherhand, the Mio has a bigger screen......
If this is entry level, I'd say go with the Garmin. Else, may wanna check out the reviews in detail, and consider spending a 'lil more to get what you may also like in a GPS device
My Garmin StreetPilot c330 GPS battery no longer holds a charge. I use the mount to the dashboard, and the cord has to be plugged into the car and the unit for it to power on. It costs $150 for Garmin to repair it, which is more than I can buy one for!
So, does anyone know a trick to get it to start holding a charge again, or how to replace the battery and what type to buy?
Thanks!
Replacing the battery in these isn't hard. You can replace it with a higher capacity battery than the original for under $20 USD.
The kink is that there are at least three different battery configurations in different strains of this model. Disassemble your unit, read through the thread below, and identify the battery type you need before ordering a replacement.
The replacement itself isn't hard if you have any electronics skills.

I'm on a tight budget. So yeah , I'm not wanting all the fancy stuff. I just need a reliable GPS that can get me from point A to B.
Please help,
Thanks again
Since you said reliable, skip Magellan. Their equipment is decent, but as soon as something goes wrong with it and you need technical support, you're on your own. Their support is outsourced to India, and while they are polite, they only read scripts and are not very knowledgeable. If I were you, I would be looking at Garmin or TomTom. Between the TomTom ONE and Garmin nuvi 200 you list, the TomTom is the better deal since they are equivalent units and the TomTom is cheaper. The C330 is decent, but it is fairly large.

Why use Nuvi Garmin 660 compared to other navigatorsWhen compared to other navigators, Nuvi Garmin 660 is often voted to be the best owing to its unique and reliable features.
Some of the top features are the wide touch screen, two- and three-dimensional views of maps, customizable features, hands free call option, FM transmitter mode, slim and sleek design, portable, and is rechargeable. It also displays the speed limits of the major roads you are travelling. The FM transmitter option is available only in the product versions being sold in North America, France, New Zealand, Australia, and Europe. This is due to the compatibility problems with the network in other countries.
