gps accessories

I want to buy my hubby a GPS system for Christmas. Do I need to buy any accessories to go with it to make it usuable? I wasn't sure about something that mounts to a windshield maybe.

Normally a GPS unit comes with the windshield mounting hardware and everything else you need to operate it. It has a suction cup sort of thing, and is easy to remove, since it is a good idea to hide the unit and mounting hardware when leaving the car in the open.

I purchased this gps as a gift for my boyfriend. Other than what comes in the box with the gps, do I need to purchase anything else? I want him to open the box and be able to use it immediately. I am not necessarily looking to purchase addition items for luxury or fun... I want to be sure a that a useful add-on or electronic type component won't be missing. Any ideas or suggestions?

you might want to check the box and make sure it comes with a cord to connect to your computer for updates--most units do come with the cable- some don't. you will want to update your maps, points of interest etc and you'll need that cable to do it....

is there an accessory that puts your gps to the left of your wheel, so its easy to look at, but not as distracting/visible to others?

The best and most complete ones I have seen are from RAM. They have mounts to allow your unit to be placed almost anywhere! I got one that clips to the AC vent on my truck!

accessories like my GPS or camera recharger. Does my Toyota have a lighter holder at all? Thanks.

Many new Toyotas do not have lighters or ash trays. If there is no ash tray there is no lighter, do NOT put a lighter element into a power socket! Look in your owner's manual or ask your dealer for details.
