Yesterday I purchased a GPS and I feel like I need to take some security measures for my car to prevent my electronics from being stolen. Along with the GPS I have an iPod connected to a Harman/Kardon Drive+Play unit, an Escort radar detector, and an older Alpine radio. As it stands, my car is begging for its window to be broken out and have everything stolen.
I have a car alarm, but as everyone knows, they are almost useless.
I could remove every item (radio faceplate, gps, ipod, radar detector) and carry it with me every time I got out of the vehicle, but this is far too much trouble.
Is anyone aware of a security accessory for their auto electronics? I appreciate any help or suggestions.
stick it in your glove box and lock the door? also they have aftermarket alarms/remote starts that tell you via the remote when the alarm is going off which is a little more useful than flashing lights.
i have the same problem but when all else fails hang around awhile and carry a big stick.

Hi,
Could you please tell me how i could get a job in installing car audio, security and GPS systems?Do you need some sort of qualification from tafe?at the moment,i'm a 1st year apprentice sparky(electrician). Is that good enough?
Get MECP certified first either via a 12 installation school or just get the book. More info from here... http://www.mecp.com/home.asp . This site will tell you everything you need to know, watch the vid on the homepage. This might get you in the door and some places, alot of places are looking for experience too, so if you're working on friends cars or your own cars, take pics.

The nuvi should have an audio out jack for earphones/speakers.
Here are a few options that i can think of for outputting the nuvi’s sound to the car stereo using the output jack.
If your car stereo has an aux input then you can connect the nuvi’s audio out directly to the stereo’s aux in.
If the stereo has a cassette player then one of those cassette adapters with the wire connecting to the audio device will work.
You can also use a FM-transmitter which takes the output from the nuvi and broadcasts the audio on a selected FM station. Simply set your radio to the same station.
Hope this helps.
