Can my TomTom GPS car charger be used to charge my Razr safely?

Also, if batteries is the problem, what about if I am in a pinch, would it work the phone safely with no battery in it?

What with the problem with batteries catching fire or exploding, use the charger that the Razr has made to charge it. Number one reason of fires is using incompatible chargers.

Tom Tom ONE XL 330 GPS car charger rating?

Friends, i noticed that there is a 5v, 12amp rating sticker on the GPS, but all the car cigarette lighters provide 9v (or 12v perhaps). What do i do now. If i connect this GPS to my cigarrette lighter, will it break it? (I have a 2000 toyota celica)
- Thanks in advance.

The TomTom ONE XL car charger have a step down voltage reducer that will allow an input of 12-14.8 volts and it will provide 5 volts to the GPS unit. You should not have any problem if you are using the factory DC power supply.

Good Luck

When I am charging my GPS from a car charger?

When I am charging my GPS from a car charger there is a light to tell me that it is connected but the battery is not being charged.

When the GPS is being charged from the mains there is no problem.

Will the car charger for my gps work in a UK car?

I bought the UK map for my gps (TomTom) but I wanted to make sure my car charger will work in England as well.
I'm already nervous about driving on the other side of the road and my gps will be my peace of mind! I need to know it works!

All new cars operate on 12 volts DC no matter what country you are in. You're SAFE! And don't worry, the plugs are the same too! Have fun in the UK!

Can I use a charger with my GPS that has a little lower current than my GPS car charger?

If the voltages are the same you can "try" it.
The unit with lower current will take longer to charge the unit (since it does not have as much capacity to charge.)

You may find that one or all of the following occur.
1. The unit with lower current may get very warm or burn out while attempting to charge the unit.
2. The lower current unit may not even charge the unit.
3. The lower current unit probably will not operate the unit while you charge.

The main issue is whether there is enough current to charge the battery. So the real question is HOW MUCH LOWER is the current available. A small amount of difference is probably no big deal. If it is only 1/2 or less then you probably won't get a charge - it won't damage the GPS but it may not charge it either! Just be sure that they both are the same polarity and same voltage! Either of those will cause major issues!

I wouldn't attempt to RUN the unit on the lower current but attempting to charge it, maybe!
